I’ve commented similarly on Deadspin’s posts about women’s hockey- thank you for writing this and giving it blog space. It is truly appreciated.

You know that all not-yet-published first novels are “books that no one has heard of,” right? That’s why they’re first?
“There really are no stupid questions in this column, because cooking is a wide and complex subject, so don’t be shy. Also don’t be a dick.”
They cut a men’s sport last year. This was the balancing cut for Title IX.
This is a great, comprehensive follow-up. Thanks for writing it.
Iceland’s recommendation must be very loose; I drove all over the island on a visit last summer and neither the car rental nor anyone else even mentioned such a thing.
I grew up in SE Michigan in the 90s. The Wings were the only thing the region had to be proud of for a long time. I’m glad they were there for us, even if things are coming home to roost now.
I’m in the stage of long slow eating disorder recovery where cooking, putting energy into preparing food, is horrible, but I do want to eat. So I mostly live on frozen meals, pasta, rice, and crackers (with or without cheese; “without” is for “I don’t even have enough cope to open the refrigerator” days).…

Been a rough year for hockey balls.
She’s always fantastic. I’ll catch up on those. I hope some of the people commenting here do as well, and take a good hard look in the mirror.
They play a different style of hockey. It doesn’t make sense to play them against boys. And if enough women’s teams were developed so that they didn’t HAVE to compete against boys’ teams to get ready, it wouldn’t be an issue.
Almost like if you don’t support the team, market it, or develop the younger players in the program, they can’t attract an audience. Huh. Almost like a vicious circle. Women haven’t been pointing this out for decades, or anything.
They’ve won more Olympic and World Championship medals than the men’s team. Not sure how they haven’t earned it.
Thanks to the writers here who’ve covered this story, and to Deadspin for keeping women’s hockey visible here on the site. (That’s sincere, not sarcasm!)
You do understand that that is part of how they pay for the site to operate?
It’s Norwegian.
Thanks for writing this, Hannah, it’s a great piece.
The military, dude. :)
