And once again I'm reminded how the Matrix got it right, with those insectoid robots and squidees. Robotics favors fuction over form over function always - if it's not functional, there's no point to the form. Kinda highlights our uniqueness on earth; the only evolutionary offshoot capable of creating, understanding

I recently worked at a company (day job) that is downsizing due to the recession. They laid off 300 workers, moved production facilites outside the U.S. and so on. In that same time, the top 3% got raises. They hired 10 new VP's, for international sales, new smaller branch companies they were bringing into the fold

@Adam: true but that doesn't impact me too much and the city isn't all that big! It's hard to remember that all of Boston downtown fits into central park in nyc; when things are running smoothly, it never takes me very long to get anywhere. And from what my friends say, service is on par with any other major metro.

I stopped patronizing target after working for them. I worked overnights; did you know that at 2:30 in the morning as you're stickering overpriced dvd's you need to have a visible smile on your face at all times? I got reprimanded for "looking tired" and a little disheveled at 3 am.

Boy, this hits home.
