You make some very interesting and valid points, however...

Oof, I was expecting the “shops are full” mention to turn into “so we discovered we could do it ourself in the hotel parking lot for $125 after Ubering to Autozone.”

The ignition was a Saab safety feature so your knee didn’t smash into the keys in a collision.

Anybody remember these?

Putting a modern drive train in it kinda ignores the whole point of trying to get one of the rarest cars back to how it was originally designed.
It’s much more interesting to see how one of the first ‘proper’ EVs was to drive, both in range and in other characteristics.
You wouldn’t put a lawn mower engine into a Benz

I’m going to be a wet blanket here on the condition. It isn’t in great shape. Perhaps lighting is to blame, but I see mismatched paintwork. Plastics are faded. Rust in parts of the jamb on the hinge of the driver’s door. Also, as Mercedes pointed out, the dang coolant light is on. For the love of goodness, don’t take

Did he prudently put his hazards on? Or was he just leaving the left turn signal flashing?

My ‘05 Impala has 642,000km and I’m planning on hitting 1,000,000 on it.

They have a unique look. But I don’t think they aged well. The Sky aged much better.

Of course they do. Designing bespoke components for low-volume cars costs the same amount of money as designing it for any other car, but you sell fewer cars so the per-part price is much higher. But, if you take common parts from other cars you offset the per-item cost considerably. That’s how automakers were able to

And a huge money grab.

Tax exemption should be taken away from all churches.  They are in the business of selling their religion, and it is a business.

They’d do a lot better to just put slap a 100% tax on cars that sell over 250.000€ and use the money to fit more renewable energy.

Exactly. This is either stupidity or virtue signaling. Focusing on cars as a source of carbon emissions is idiotic to begin with, since personal cars account for less than 9% of carbon emissions globally. And focusing on manufacturers that small, of cars that get driven only a small number of miles, is even more

There is a meth brand called “life”, now?

Hasn’t had a major model revision since 2009, so...Vintage markup: $25,000"

The type R isn’t bad looking. May be a little busy, but y’all are acting like it was on pimp my ride.

But that’s servicable:

Toyota/Lexus ABS actuator. Goo!

Brittle plastic parts that snap, crack, or corrode after a few years?

These have wonky suspension geometry to make them handle like a much lower, lighter vehicle. You surely don’t mind dropping $2k on tires every 15k miles, right? Just a drop in the bucket as far as maintenance costs go on these things.
