I don’t think people are tossing out their crock pots in droves, but rather expressing that they love the character, Jack, and are bummed to see how he died. Even though viewers have been begging to know this info since almost the beginning. They want to post on the topic, share their, er, feels, and this is how they

I have a business, and people being people, have to hear the same questions and comments repeatedly. You can’t blame or punish the 456th asker for 1 - 455.

As mentioned, I don’t have an issue with her asking, but also feel she would need to disclose that. If she doesn’t, that’s another issue. But for me, there mere request, is not egregious.

See, I have much more issue with a business instigating that contingent on a good review. Or a reviewer guaranteeing a good review. A freebie should just be that, a freebie, which is owned up to in the review, and comes with no strings or promises.

“Earlier today, I spoke with @GovMattBevin of Kentucky regarding yesterday’s shooting at Marshall County High School. My thoughts and prayers are with Bailey Holt, Preston Cope, their families, and all of the wounded victims who are in recovery. We are with you!”

Her request provided them an opportunity for free publicity, which they (cynically?) used.

The Girl Next Door was truly, uncomfortably hard to read, especially when you know it was based on real cases. (This is meant as a compliment, to be clear.)

Well, in your defense, you’re probably newly sentient.

I’ve been paying my employees and bills using Monopoly money. :)

No, I don’t think that, but at the point that someone is just asking a question I don’t go immediately to Execute Them in the Court of Public Opinion.

As long as the person is up front that they got a freebie, I don’t have an issue with it. But I also spent a few years in the publishing world, where books are given out like candy, but a reviewer must disclose it.

Too late to edit. To clarify, I own a restaurant.

Yeah, if someone asked me for a free meal in exchange for a review, I wouldn’t take them up on it, and I wouldn’t publicize it unless they gave a nasty review that felt tied into the refusal. Eh, even then I’d probably blow it off.

You make excellent points.

Well, I’m 49 and have no issue with her asking for a room. Not that she asked me — for my opinion, I mean, not to give her a room.

Didn’t finish your post. It just didn’t grab me. I could have just moved on with my life, but I made it a point to tell you. ;)
