It's like an open world game with 1 quest in 16 parts.

Your second paragraph hits at one of my least favorite things about Assassin's Creed - they made every place in that game home to some bauble or another. I found myself exploring the first major city and seeking higher and higher vantage points, when lo and behold, some switch is being activated now that I'm up here.…
Just earlier today I finished playing Shadow of the Colossus again, and one of the best parts of that game is the travel between the Shrine and the next foe. The whole world is vast, lonely, barren, yet gorgeous, rich, and teeming with hints at history and life. Each time I play, I get lost at some point while…
Security vs. civil liberties is certainly a political issue, though, as you point out, it is not necessarily a partisan issue.
I'm getting the sense that confusion as to what to do and where to go is the driving force behind the game. As little bits of information emerge, curiosity compels me forward and all the while, ominous sights and sounds grow more overbearing and the sense of dread ratchets up. I'm just glad I figured out how to kick…
Well, I played through a few minutes of Silent Hill first (since I bought them both a couple weeks ago), but I no longer have a working PS1 memory card, so I started in with Silent Hill 2 instead.
This weekend I'm playing Silent Hill 2 for the first time. So far, this game is very tense and unnerving. Also, I died in the apartment courtyard pool and now I have to go through half of that place again.
My seasonal game is Donkey Kong Country 2, which I play every autumn, when the coolness finally settles in. In part, it's because it feels like the first time I played it, back in Christmas of 1995 (which was in Houston, so autumn everywhere else is equivalent to winter there). I just love wrapping up in a blanket…
More like Reiko's still as pompous a fool as ever.
I never even knew about the alternate title music for this episode. Thanks a lot DVD sourced videos!
I guess I just appreciate one understated gag out of a panoply of otherwise outrageous jokes.
Oh man, how have I never noticed that meaning of the line? This show keeps surprising me every time I watch it. We need to do recaps every year so I can re-watch it again and again with everyone.
I think the sniper gag only works because it keeps popping up, and nobody pays it any mind beyond just cleaning an ear out.
I agree that this show succeeds by going over the top, and then over the top of that. It leads to such a dense pack of jokes on jokes on jokes, each taken to their fullest and then wrung further for more humor. Hell, even though I've seen this show a ton, I half-expected the clock bell to chime 13 times on the zoom…
No.
"My friend died. He was killed by litter. He was white and privileged."
GASP
"That's the saddest thing I ever heard."
I think Scudworth openly mocking the students to their faces is my favorite Scudworth.
Oliver, your reviews for Justice League and The Legend of Korra are a big reason I read the site, so I was glad to take the opportunity to watch Gargoyles for the first time alongside your reviews. Keep it up so I can enjoy the quality writing from the show and from you.

I'm the number five!
I love this show so much, so I'm glad more people will get exposed to it on here. It's always hard to believe just how many jokes get layered on top of each other in every episode. The one upside of the short run of the show is that saturation of absurd humor never ran out of steam.
