Whilst I agree with the sentiment that this decision is likely backed by the need to continue generating good business prospects with China, the hypocrisy from some people here is astounding.

I’ve gone dark every chance I get with my interfaces. I’ve been doing it ever since Microsoft let you tweak your UI with a custom pallete. So if 20+ years is a fad... *shrug* I am a programmer though, so your mileage may vary.
Android guy here. I’ve been using light green font on a black background on my ereaders for aaaages - ‘cause my eyes don’t get as tired - and I’m pretty astigmatic. The issue, exacerbated by astigmatism, is that the lenses in our eyes are not color corrected (like an achromatic lens in a camera) so we have to adjust…
Umm. Not blowing my eyeballs out when using my phone at night is by FAR the most valuable reason. And barely even mentioned here. It’s the most practical application by far, and absolutely legit. Must we shit on everything?
What’s with all these blue shirts? You think blue shirts are cool? blue shirts are BULLSHIT. Here’s a weird swerve at some actor to prove my point.
i can’t believe i bothered reading this.
These unicorn ones overvalue and hype the IPO so the 10 years of investors can cash out. The Woodside VC people made their money in the IPO.
it doesn’t sound like a money issue so much as a timing issue. insurance doesn’t pay out the next day, and if it takes 2 months to get paid, her husband is home bound for 2 months.
It’s a specialty vehicle that fits a wheelchair. Insurance can be pretty cheap when it comes to modified vehicles.
I think the price difference was made up for by not having to pay for gas, less maintenance and a longer vehicle life. Or at least that’s what the study is trying to prove.
Having a standalone, EV-only sub brand as opposed to sprinkling occasional EV models across all brands is a great idea.
Nothing about Cleveland is cool.
It costs $0.50 to have the USPS deliver a letter for you. What would UPS et al. charge? Comparing apples to apples, a UPS second-day air flat-pack envelope from my home in New York to my mother in Arizona would cost $34.63, without weekend delivery. The same service via USPS is $6.70, or $24.70 if I want Saturday…
Why should the USPS make a profit? It’s a government service. Does the Army make a profit? The Justice Department? The USPS also doesn’t get to cherry-pick its routes like UPS or Fed Ex do. Do you think that if you lived in Nome, Alaska, Fed Ex would deliver a letter for you for 50¢?
... said every generation ever.
...and Microsoft spent 12 billion in 2018 and I have zero expectations for what they’re cooking.
Apple spent a record-breaking $11B+ on research and development in 2018.
It’s not great for much else than streaming Apple Music in a small footprint with decent sound
Apple’s stock is almost entirely dependent on iphone sales. They sell other products, but no one other category makes as much of an impact to their stock price than the iphone. You can pretty much ball up all their other sales items into “other” as far as the stock market is concerned. In fact, the only other real…
That was kind of the idea behind Geocities, I think. I had like.... 4 or 5 Geocities sites as a teenager. Some I totally coded from scratch and some I used the templates they had.
Anyone can get a .onion domain for free, so that helps encourage the weirdness.
