Hm, I find myself in the same boat as you re: not having any idea what the right thing to do here is.

I lost a family member to suicide and came out of this movie feeling for people like yourself. I did OK with it, but know others who wouldn’t. And you don’t think to Google every movie for “does anyone commit suicide?”
Small point, but the 1954 version is also a remake of the original, which was made in 1937.
Hmm I don’t see how exactly a warning about suicide “basically gives away the ending”. There are plenty of reasons why a warning like that could be included, it doesn’t automatically point to a main character committing suicide. I’m sure some people would jump to that conclusion, but that certainly doesn’t mean that ev…
Here’s my two cents: I’ve lost someone in my immediate family to suicide. It happened nearly years ago. I still can’t stand ‘jokes’ about it on tv/movies, and I hate being caught unaware by it in tv/movies, especially if it’s one advertised as a non-drama (I’m looking at you, The Artist). I pretty much always have to…
#Texpat here, genuinely terrified of Beto losing. I am an extremely vocal and proud liberal feminist snowflake and currently going through a divorce, if he loses I don’t think I can handle my conservative bible thumping racist as shit relatives at Thanksgiving this year. Like will get a note from my therapist so that…
Honestly, this seems like a perfectly reasonable thing to do. I get not wanting “spoilers”, but that desire is not really reasonable when compared to the fact that a piece of media may cause real psychological damage to an unsuspecting patron who has issues around self-harm or suicide.
Michigan has a pretty exciting ballot (hopefully leading towards some redemption for 2016). The Democrats have all female candidates for the top posts: Governor Gretchen Whitmer, Attorney General Dana Nessel*, Jocelyn Benson for Secretary of State and Debbie Stabenow for Senator. In addition we have ballot initiatives…
There was a 1.5 hour wait at the main branch of the Brooklyn Public Library per my friend. I have another polling place at a school up the block from me I’ll hit at 4
I’m in the 10th district of Virginia, where the contest between the challenger Wexton and the trump-follower Comstock seems to have caught the imagination of the press. The other contest is for Senate, with Kaine, the smart, well-read, reasonable, and well-intentioned previous VP candidate and current incumbent going…
Spoke to my Muslim deli guy this morning. He’s had all kind of problems voting over the years. He started laughing at one point because he can’t seem to stop the US government from practically stalking him when it comes to...jury duty.
The Blue Wave is real, folks. I voted in Cambridge today and surprise surprise, looked like record turnout. Pelosi just said that she is “100% confident” that we take the House. That’s obvious. Less obvious is that we’re taking the Senate too along with all of the gubernatorial races. This is the change we asked for.…
Hi, friends! I’m in NY-19, where we’re trying to unseat the awful John Faso (you may remember him as the dick whose vote brought the Obamacare repeal bill out of committee, after promising a constituent with a brain tumor that he wouldn’t vote to take away her healthcare). The volunteers for his challenger, Antonio…
I got a promotion at work!! I've been bumped to a supervisory level and I'm sooo proud of myself. I am worried a little about how my anxiety and self-doubt will hinder me in the role, but my boss has suggested weekly debriefs to mitigate any spirals. So, yay!
I didn’t get the job I was hoping for, but they told me to look for future openings. My wisdom teeth are out and I didn’t even faint getting the IV in this time. I’m still gray on Jezebel.
Last week I gleefully posted that I was pregnant. A few days later I miscarried. I don’t even know what to say about it, beyond the fact I’m crushed.
