I would very much like to applaud Gigi Hadid for not trying to escape jury duty; one of the most important privileges we hold as Americans. And I mean that.

I really appreciate that you took the time to talk about what it might look like if there had, in fact, been a plan for assisted suicide. I’ve talked about what my ultimate end might look like with my family. I have no desire to waste time and money on an extended end in nursing care where I’m scared and confused most Read more

(burner) The love of my life, my spouse, the father of my kids, the kindest, gentlest, most feminist genderqueer (AMAB) person I have ever met recently had a long manic episode that culminated in an extreme psychotic break that culminated in them trying to strangle me to death (they would have succeeded if someone Read more

This week was somewhat less sucky than they have been lately. It’s review time and the worst thing my boss had to say was that my “more confident attitude lately was not as welcoming” which is some sexist bullshit I refuse to acknowledge. Read more

Simone actually now has four eponymous skills, the triple double is called the Biles II because there already was a Biles on Floor Exercise - a double layout with a half twist. She debuted the original Biles in 2013. Then she did the Biles vault in 2018, and now the Biles on beam, and the Biles II on floor in 2019. Read more

Today was my friend’s memorial service. I had planned to take public transportation, but when I got up this morning, I realized that construction on the tracks was going to make my trip take about 3 hours. I sat on my couch moping and had pretty much decided I wasn’t going to be able to make the trek. Then I hear my Read more

Teacher here: One thing that has helped me get my head back in the game is to attend a conference at the beginning of August. I’ve had six weeks off at that point of the summer, so getting together with my fellow math nerds helps get the wheels turning. I also start puttering around in my classroom before it’s time to Read more

Ccongrats!  That is extremely exciting.  My dad tried out for Jeopardy many years ago, and didn’t make it. Junior Grapes is trying to convince me to try out, but my dad always beats me when we watch, so I haven’t done it. Junior is a freshman and wants to try out for the Teen Tournament in a few years. He estimates Read more

Awesome for you.  My good friend and ex-husband were both on Jeopardy. It was fun visiting the studio and clapping with the crowd.   Apparently the secret is hitting the buzzer at just the right time.
