Actually, you’re right! This was under an anti-SLAPP statute where fees are awarded as a matter of course. I retract my earlier statement.

I think this was a defamation suit?
Interesting. I guess it depends on the type of case and where you practice. I know fees are generally obligatory in civil rights cases, etc., but I haven’t heard of them for defamation cases (or in federal court in general) except as a sanction.
So I can tell you this: having to pay the other side’s legal fees is reserved for really egregiously frivolous lawsuits, with no basis in law or fact.
True story: I had an appearance in that courthouse this morning. The entrance was MADNESS. I’ve seen press scrums, but this was next-level. Caught a glimpse of Michael Avenatti in person - no idea why he showed up, but he radiates smugness and smarm.
I have had the same thing off and on for the last while. Best guess right now is allergies -- my apartment is insanely dusty, and trying to tamp down on that has helped some.
I don’t know where you’re located, but I really love Town Shop in NYC. https://www.townshop.com/ I absolutely encourage finding a small independent store if you can -- the people seem to be much more knowledgeable and patient.
True story: because of various life experiences I’ve had with family members, I don’t like to consume media that involves depictions/discussions of suicide. For instance, I love musicals, but I’m not going to see Dear Evan Hansen, because I know suicide is a big part of the storyline.
Not focusing at work at all... my normally quiet lower Manhattan polling place was busy this morning, though!
this is literally what happens when you say there are “good people on both sides”
ugh see my current picture is GREAT and now they’re making me take a new one and it’s not going to be as good as that one!!
Same job, new website, new picture.
that’s a nosey that’s just begging for a boop!!
It’s funny how split people are! I tend to wear small, understated gemstone pendants most of the time (in the office and in court). But now I’ve been gifted fancy pearls, and they’re redoing the website...
A suit, it’s a pretty formal place. Hm.
A string of pearls in a corporate headshot: classic and formal, or stodgy and “looks like she’s pretending to be a grownup”?
This is true! Also, if there is a subway car that is empty on an otherwise-packed train, DO NOT GO IN THERE. There are several possibilities of why it’s empty, and none of them are good.
Hey! NYC person here! Let me know if you need any tips! (And I have done both of those things and they are both spectacular.)
I totally did too!!
oh man I just googled Dartmoor and it looks amazing!! so jealous
