I don’t care if it’s the reality TV version of F1, full of carefully edited drama that was turned to 11 for the sake of attracting new fans.

My only problem with minivans is they are so gd expensive. But I guess so is everything.
Agreed. Buying an SUV instead of a minivan when you have 2+ young kids is just plain stupid.
Do you know what is cool AF? Buying a car that perfectly fits your needs.
Do you know what else is extra cool AF? Owning a vehicle that can easily fit a sheet of 4x8 drywall or plywood inside it with no need for roof racks or…
It only has three wheels, so it may be registered as a motorcycle.
For all the disagreement that exists in the automotive space, I think we can all come together on this one:
Exactly this. I’ve held this position for a while now. There needs to be an intermediate step while the charging infrastructure has a chance to grow. The government also needs to decide on a charging interface full stop. I don’t have to worry if a fuel nozzle will fit my ICE machine, I shouldn’t have to worry if…
I love EVs and I do think we should work on building up the charging infrastructure to enable a full transition to them, but I do think PHEVs are the way to go for pretty much everyone in the immediate future.
“Only pay cash”.
Bingo - companies don’t want to train people, then complain about a “shortage”. They also don’t pay well on top of that. They want someone else to pay the bill for training.
I’ll give up a few MPGs to not have to drive a vehicle with a CVT.
The trouble with the Prius, at least here in Canada, is that you have to wait 2 years to get your hands on one. The supply is nowhere near the demand for them.
Exactly my point from the beginning. The capital cost is too high for the savings unless you drive that “just right” amount - far enough to generate a lot of savings, not so far that range becomes an issue. And it’s not like electricity is free - even if you have your own solar, you still paid a lot of money for that.
I predict that the prices of the cars will not decrease dramatically. Maybe slightly. The profit margins on them, however, will increase substantially.
People realize they’re not the “cheap/easy to own” vehicle they thought?
They are cool to see on the road. I really hope car makers continue to get creative with the extra space they have now with so much mechanics of ICE engines and drivetrain missing and a gas tank they no longer need to account for.
And with the low miles these things have, it seems like a lot of people got over ownership of them fast.
The best commonly-available system (between $30k - $50k) would be Honda/Acura’s iVTM4 / SH-AWD system. They are essentially the same unit, but with different programming (Acura adds a bit more RWD bias and greater torque-vectoring range).
