I'm totally with you about round numbers! I tend to tip way up just because odd/ uneven numbers make me twitchy.

I've never met any professional in any service industry who was ever seriously offended by a large tip from a client they like. There are ways to make a big tip douchey, but remembering someone's birthday is not one of them.

I agree with Friday. I am a server in a restaurant, and I not only appreciate it, but I am truly touched when customers give me a little extra for holidays and special occasions. Also, I don't know how it is for other tipped positions, but restaurant workers never get raises. We make a percentage of our sales, so

Sometimes if I don't have cash on me (which is often), I will double up on the tip for the next time. Like you, I have long term beauty gurus. My manicurist and I have been together 5 years on an almost weekly basis. I get her birthday gifts as well. She knows if I don't tip her one week because I am without cash that

OMG me too—I have to round up to a nice even number. Even if it means giving them $17.23 when I'd usually give a $15 tip, just so the bill is rounded to the nearest $5 or $10. lol

I'm with you on the $5, but I never know if I'm being cheap?

I would not worry about seeming condescending at all. Slightly different circumstances but my first job was at a pizza joint, and when my regulars there would tip me extra around the holidays, I was always thrilled and very grateful. I am sure she appreciates it.

I always tip 20% for stylists, nail people (manicurists? Nail artists?), and eyebrow threaders, but what about assistants? As in, the people at hair salons that wash and blow dry your hair. Do they get a tip too?

I work at an airbrush tanning salon in Manhattan (no, seriously) and we run a lot of specials. The standard price for our tans is $70, but first-time clients get a 25% discount. We sell packages, too, which will give a client three tans for $85, six for $145, etc. Sometimes, clients tip on the discounted prices

People who use Retin-A defnitely need to be careful though. NO FACE WAXES! It'll rip your skin off.

Yup. The only mascara that's never transferred was the CK one Ulta gave me for my birthday. I've tried Dior, KVD, Guerlain, and Josie Maran so far.

Favorite mascara hands down. I buy it in blue, and it's perfect.

I am OBSESSED with diorshow (the original/standard version). I have been using it for years and keep trying other mascaras but always come back to this one! But I also love having a really big brush because I have super long lashes and that's just what works best for me :)

My Holy Grail mascara is a L'Oreal Voluminous (the original). It is the best mascara I have ever had and it's under $10. I get it in waterproof. I got Diorshow for Christmas one year and just couldn't get into it.

Haven't tried the Sephora brand but I always come back to CeraVe for my skincare. Great for sensitive skin and inexpensive. Plus their AM moisturizer has physical sunblock. Definitely a plus if a product is cruelty-free.

As a woman getting older, my take on it (as I experience it) is that while you're going through menopause you tend to lose a lot of hair, and many women's hair thins even more afterwards. I think many women today cut their hair short because they don't have as much and thinning hair looks better short - you can fluff

In addition to sunscreen, WEAR SUNGLASSES! This will make a huge difference. I'm 44 and the skin around my eyes looks so much better than other women my age (or even younger). I'm not as diligent about sunscreen as I should be, but I hate the feeling of squinting so I whip mine on at the first hint of light. I'm

Oh the Cucumber soap and Enzyme Cleansing whatever don't have SLS. However, while they felt/smelled nice, it seemed like they weren't super effective at removing all my makeup and stuff, so.

Technically speaking, there's not a fine line between fine lines and actual wrinkles. :) Maybe mom isn't a forehead-engaging worrier (or rarely confuzzed/confused).

Yeah, the "ma'am"-ing can grate on one, but once you're on the "wrong" side of 45 (and I'm on the "wrong" side of 50), that's a minor irritant in the
