Most modern vehicle air conditioners disengage under heavy throttle.  Some even shut the alternator down.

MKS isn’t really Volvo-derived. It’s Taurus-derived. The Volvo connection is 20 (perhaps more) years old. There’s not 2% Volvo engineering in that car. All that is left is some frame engineering.
