Apple has had this tech in their computers for sometime. both the iPod and Powerbooks had a accelerometer in them that when sudden movement was detected it would stop the drive spinning and lock the heads as to avoid data loss and damage to the drive.

I think the biggest question is who's willing to give any amount of personal information to Sony at this point?
