I love the idea that in real time the ref was like, “pivot-caught the ball-one-two-lost control-pivot-pass-legal.”
Second, we’re like two weeks from Harden just bobbling the ball from hand to hand as he walks down the court before plowing headlong into a defender actively running away from him and getting like 10

We had a kid on my son’s basketball team that did that. If he touched the ball, it was a turnover. We lost every single game. His dad had to be restrained from the ref (by me) at one point because he was trying to fight him over a lack of foul calling. My son was 10 at the time. I guess what I’m trying to say is that

Poor Darymond.

It’s also nice remembering that 73-9 season without a title thrown in there, like the 18-1 Pats in 2007. That small mortal blip before they added two extra 7 foot arms to the Voltron of dominance. To go with the leg that always aims for the groin.

GSW will almost definitely win it all,  but if you can separate yourself from the knowledge that it's not going to result in a title, the matchups in the Eastern Conference should be really compelling.

I kind of love the idea of the Warriors just capping off this current iteration with the most dominant team ever, before all the pieces scatter to the wind. With their all-NBA players separated, people will again remember their incredible individual talent, while realizing how truly insane it was to see them all play

Guys... GUYS. I finally broke the Deadspin comment star record last night. For six months I’ve been just a handful away from the previous high, but something put that wonderful poop story back on people’s radar, and I topped the 4100-star mark.

He doesn’t owe us an explanation.

If you’re married and you clip your nails in bed, you deserve divorce. Fellow Steve here btw, you’re making the rest of us Steves look bad. Do it somewhere else. I bet you floss in bed too?

welcome back

Yeah, hmmm, what happened over the last 2 years in Washington that would piss the world off?

“What a great time to live here in these United States”

I have no problem with admiring Brady and Belechick (sp?) but with the current state of the government, this sentence seems very out of place.

The video on this is hilarious as his dad gets asked when Murray doesn't commit an answer....I sure hope to hell this kid plays in the Town!

He’ll be a top 10 maybe a top 5 pick in the NFL - start right away or midway through his first season plus make way more money on the first contract.

1) The length of the MLB rookie contract is a reason to NOT go baseball. First, while the upfront signing bonus is great, the guaranteed value of a 1st round NFL contract is higher, and he’d hit free agency in 4-5 years (if the team picked-up the 5th year option in a 1st round contract, but in reality if he’s good

The analysis I’ve seen suggests the opposite is true, especially if you’re talking about a quarterback. In baseball, you get a big signing bonus, but then you go to Podunk Single-A ball, and then have to work your way up the ladder; lots of 1st round picks never make it to the big leagues and even fewer ever get past

There was a good article, I think on FanGraphs, that I can no longer find, but the general gist was that for QB prospects going in the first round, it was likely a better choice (financially) to choose football. Otherwise, baseball was the better choice. You’ll get to larger semi-guaranteed money more quickly in

Being a first round pick in the NFL gives you a guaranteed minimum $10 million contract.

In addition to the below, i.e., mlb rookie contracts are six years and don’t start until you’re in the majors, there’s also no guarantee he’d ever see a mlb field. It’s extraordinarily rare to play in the majors within a year or two of being drafted. Most guys drafted will never play in the majors. Plenty of first
