Yeah this is a weird take, since I’ve read in multiple other sources that they do keep in touch with their makeover subjects. And I don’t think they’re obligated to be best friends for life with these folks, so whatever they do to follow up is above and beyond the average reality TV relationship.

Agreed. I’m getting really tired of Jezebel’s “let’s hate on everything, even nice things” attitude. I saw Karamo at a book talk in DC and he said, yes there are people they don’t keep in touch with (and likewise don’t reach out to them) but he has some people he does keep in regular touch with. The fact that he keeps

This makes me happy. You are a good professor and I’m sure some day your grown up students will come back and thank you for making a connection with them.

I am a college professor and this is basically how I feel about my students. I will never see 99% of them again after they graduate but I go out of my way to make them feel like they can genuinely connect with me while they are in my orbit.

I call it “decency porn” and this type of programming is increasingly necessary for my survival.

Karamo actually has come out and said he haaatttteeesss the culture tag but the producers made him stick with it because it was the same as the first season.  I think his preference was like life coach or therapist (hes a licensed therapist and social worker!) but they were like... nope.  They also cut out a lot of

I don’t mean this in a weird way, but I do have a lot of meaningful relationships and emotional exchanges in my life and I STILL feel that emotional release every single episode.

I reject the assumption that “bonded for life” means you have to have like... a daily friendship exchange with someone. I’m bonded for life with people I haven’t talked to in years. There are strangers I’ve met out at a bar that I feel like I bonded to for life even though I’ve never seen them again.

I think there is power to imaginary friendships. While Queer Eye is obviously a TV show with its own plot devices, a form of shallow self help consumerism, archetypes, and fictional tropes, I find when I watch it - I feel a real emotional release. This may indicate to some degree I have absence of meaningful

I guess they wanted to bring more awareness to more than just classifying people based on lgbt terms, you can’t really tell what the chemistry is going to be beforehand. The second episode, when the man with the disability says to Tan that although he’s never been around 5 gay people, Tan probably hasn’t been around 5

In re: “culture”, Karamo has background as a social worker and that’s essentially what he’s doing on the show. They just didn’t want to freak people out by using the phrase “social worker”.

I think Joe Biden is the worst possible candidate in the Democratic field... and I think that Al Franken was downed by a nakedly obvious right-wing hatchet job.

49% of white women didn’t vote for Trump. So that would be a classic overlapping circles Venn diagram. That’s... how Venn diagrams work.

She tried to. Many of the women wouldn’t comment. There was of course the one woman who accused him of looking at her wrong. She’s one of the 7.

That’s not true. Some of us like that Franken was a strong liberal voice on the hill who didn’t sell himself to corporations to the degree others do. He was good at the job. Screw Biden.

I question Franken’s fate but am grossed out by Joe Biden. So there’s at least one person, me.

Could’ve been worse;

They’re trying to kill Capitalism! Karl MARX! SOCIALISM!!!! The UN Jackboot Thugs are after our HAMBERDERS!!!!!

Yeah, having a meaningful conversation about personal growth and acknowledging areas where change may be possible in order to save the relationship with your spouse is the one thing you do not do in the Trump family.

I kind of fell out of love with my significant other when they started locking kids in cages along the south edge of our property.
