I can see multiple ways for this to play out.

The real question is what knocked it out of its orbit and sent it down into the gravity well. If it was a passing brown dwarf, it might have sent similar objects out of their orbits and this might just be the first of hundreds or thousands of Oort cloud denizens to come calling.

I’m sure that people will start raising these things in their homes trying to save them from extinction, only to realize how big they can get and release them to fend for themselves. Maybe we should try to stave off their eventual domination of the world now and save ourselves some trouble.

Solar updraft towers could harvest the thermal from the rising air as well as evaporate extra water which could be captured and used for drinking or farming. If you make extra tall towers and neglect to design them to capture the water vapor, you can turn deserts into viable cropland.

In other words, light is a momentum transfer effect. The other large momentum transfer in the galaxy is electrons gaining and losing mass in magnetic fields over 60 gauss. If I had a grant, I would honestly be investigating the possibility of making an electron mass drive based on it. I suspect it is the actual

Based on the evidence so far, I assume two converging beams of EM energy, possibly microwave scale, that produce the affects in people. Surveillance methods are clearly shoddy if they are accidentally detecting due to the damage and harm caused by them.

Or ate them...

Or it could be something as simple as many of the highest level tech people actually being on the autism spectrum and benefiting from it in this case. Since there is a 4 to 1 ratio of male to females with functional autism, this could explain the entire discrepancy without ever having to hunt down none existent

In the Master of Orion series, Class 5 planets are called Gaia worlds.

I am using the Elecom wired 6 button trackball and my scores beg to differ. Having a higher DPI than any previous trackball certainly helps.

Do you honestly think someones party affiliation has anything whatsoever to do with trusting the testimony of police? If so, you are part of the problem.

What if we treated the problem as if it were a graphical issues and the GPU is used to determine if the light coming off the placed queen would illuminate another queen if she were placed in an incorrect square. GPU’s already deal with oodles of light path issues per second so treating the problem from that point of

Pointy haired boss syndrome explains it as well.

It starts with drones having auto-detect features and ends with something that would make a xenomorph reconsider.

He would need to create an liquefied rock and dirt zone with transducers in the front of his borers in order to get the speed anywhere close to what he is trying to achieve. He is talking about making them 10x faster but that involved changing how everything is done.

I’ve always imagined neutrinos like little leidenfrost effect type reactions skittering across the universe.

Honestly I think it would be worth sending a return sampler missions simply on the chance of obtaining a new branch of life. One capable of processing chemicals in ways that are not possible to earth based life chemistry.

When I was young, our pit bull adopted the kittens of a cat who didn’t clean them or take care of them willingly. The dog was not lactating and had never had puppies but she cleaned them and would treat them as if they were her own puppies. We had to catch the mom and wrap her arms and legs in a towel so we could hold

I do everything I can think of and her lists are generally already done.

If you look hard enough, you can even find this discussed in a publication called electronic mail circa 1972.
