THIS.

I don’t think the point is “passing” as another race (i.e., having natural, physical characteristics that may lead you to be perceived as of another culture like skin/eye color, hair texture or bone structure). The point is that if, say, a light-skinned Mexican-American woman were going around saying she was white,

Common courtesy would state that if one must bang in another’s home, it is best to do it on a non-porous, wipeable surface, i.e., the shower. Kitchen counters should be reserved for the homeowner/lease holder only.

To his credit, there is nothing sexier than intelligence and wit. I am in love with all these women.

Field of Dreams. Grew up in a baseball house, so that damn movie gets me every time. Plus, adorable baby Gaby Hoffman.

I have unequivocally counted “Goodfellas” as one of my top favorite movies for years. It is a goddamn masterpiece of storytelling and acting, and the reason why my worship of Lorraine Bracco began.

She bit down on her own fork and hurt her tooth. Jerry then replied with some snarky comment about “and with all that practice eating every day.”

Exactly. I would imagine losing your child, arguably one of the most traumatic deaths a person could be faced with, would have you behaving totally out of the ordinary. There should be no judgment on this woman and the pain she is feeling.

I think you’re absolutely right in that we have to change the idea that there is anything “bad” about abortion. In lots of (most) cases, it’s the very best decision for the mother and the child. I think in a lot of ways it’s the selfless decision to make. It means admitting that you are not fit, at that point in life

I smell smoke. Is something burning?

I've said it before: being a genius and being an idiot are not mutually exclusive.

It was alive, but whether it could have survived is highly unlikely given how early it was in development. I'm not necessarily arguing that there was no wrong done; I'm just saying that this woman deserved better care and options for terminating her pregnancy, and that legally speaking it isn't right to charge her

But this women seemingly did not.

The tragedy is that this seems that it was her only option. That’s the conversation that needs to start; how to avoid these situations by providing better family planning/women’s health options for those in need.

Exactly. Some pregnancies can go to 40 weeks and still the fetus would have never been able to successfully live outside of its mother. I do understand the need to establish a viability range for medical purposes (i.e., if a fetus dies in utero, at what stage would you deliver rather than abort, when to determine a

Okay, this is my thought exactly.

That’s not a fair comparison. Yes, a two month old needs someone to care for them in order to survive. A fetus delivered at 22 (or so) weeks cannot sustain life outside the womb. I mean, any human being suffering from neglect and without resources for food/water will eventually die. We’re talking about the fact that

Exactly.

Definitely. Trigger warnings exist for those who have suffered abuse/trauma that they could emotionally be fired back into. That people use them as an excuse to avoid conversations around topics they merely find uncomfortable is ridiculous. Everyone should be uncomfortable every once in awhile.

I just watched the Simpsons episode he guest voiced on, and my immediate thought was “Sigh. I love John Waters. He is so refreshingly bizarre.”
