Don’t forget truly Northern California. Not the Bay Area (that’s not NorCal, it’s more...mid-cal).

I feel sorry for you if you think the only people who enjoy arts and culture are tourists in an area, and that those things aren’t a regular part of life or something. You actually mock people for going to museums and galleries? That’s...an embarrassing thing to admit. Maybe part of the problem is that you think arts

I live in Toronto. I would not miss seasons. Is there sometimes sandal weather and sometimes scarf weather? Done.

what? why do i have to be the fucking change? why do i, a brown woman of color, have to change other people’s fucking attitudes? no. why is it that the answer to ending inequality and discrimination always rests on the backs of people of color? the fuck?

It’s interesting how if you live in Cali or NY you are not allowed to talk about why you like where you live. There will be a bunch of people from less desirable areas jumping down your throat for “looking down” on them. Yet, they are allowed to express their happiness with where they live, usually by directly

pretty affordable. its hot in the summer, but its a dry heat. usually only a week or so in July where its around 100. aside from that, 90ish all summer. but like I said, no humidity. and you have the delta nearby, and tons of people have boats and such.

Maybe Auburn or Colfax? It’s in the foothills off of I80 so it gets colder (even snows sometimes!) And is close to Tahoe, Sacramento, and only a few hours from SF if you wanted to make a day trip out there! It’s a tad more rural too and there’s lots of wilderness and hiking. Or Placerville, lots of cool gold rush

wellllll most of the ‘techbros’ are transplants, so please take them back. as were most of the original real housewives cast.

Or, we can have an electoral system that doesn’t give one fucking person in the Midwest the same power as like...I dunno...300 in California. That’s some bullshit. And it’s bullshit that people should be expected to relocate to balance out a system that should be balanced by design, intentionally. Not the shit show of

What part(s) of CA were you in? It’s a huge state. A modest 1- or 2-bedroom apartment is doable at $800 a month where I live.

California is fucking enormous and various. You could absolutely find a studio for that in parts of LA County or the Central Valley. Probably up by Humboldt area too. No, you’re not going to find that deal in the bay or in any major city center here, but CA does not have a monopoly on the US housing crisis.

Move to the valley! We have actual freezing temps in the winter, it sometimes gets up to 110 in the summer, but never spends too long at either extreme. Plus, I can day-trip to the City or to Tahoe or even up to Lassen.

The problem is largely that homeless services are centralized instead of dispersed, which is how phenomenons like Skid Row came to be. While it is alarming to work at clinics in Skid Row and see the high concentration of homelessness, I am inclined to agree with you. Homelessness in CA isn’t worse, it’s

Then make places that aren’t California and New York more attractive to move to. People flock to these places for a reason. Encourage arts and cultural exhibits, activities, etc. Have more jobs. Have things to do. And encourage the locals to be less dickish to people who aren’t white or straight or Christian (if

Can you with a straight face tell me my life will be better in a flyover state?
I have brown skin and I rarely know my place. I also like to let police officers know that I know my rights.

I can’t see myself having a goodtime in Bumbuttsville, Hickstate.

I cannot afford CA but it does check a lot of the boxes on my must-have list, particularly the “get as far away from the in-laws as possible without leaving the country” box.

Same. I’ve enjoyed many of these fine beverages on my visits to SF and Sac.

Let’s recommend cool CA cities for people to move to, since we don’t want any more bodies crowding LA and SF! My votes go to Sacramento (a very cool, very affordable place full of very smart people, though admittedly it gets hot there), Sonoma (this recommendation is mostly for my friends, since I would like a house

I always see it used to denigrate, like “you liberals in your big city bubbles.”

But hey, fuck, I’m gay. When I was a teenager, I moved to a big city to be around other queers. And going into the Trump Era, I feel even less inclined to move away from safety and culture.

Sorry if that makes me a “snowflake” when I have

What’s Sacramento like? I’ve seen some jobs there that look like they’re up my alley. How expensive is it? How hot does it get?
