One of my senators (Gillibrand) is basically voting against every Cabinet nominee.

They shouldn't stop covering, but they should stop simply broadcasting the press conferences immediately. That way they can fact check and report critically on the lies du jour coming from the press conference.

I'd have an easier time believing impeachment could ever happen if Senators had shown a fucking spine in voting down some of his clearly inept and damaging cabinet picks (e.g. Tillerson). But that's not happening.
