Oh, I'm totes getting this. Except I've learned to never buy an EA game until the inevitable $1 sales they have. And, thus, this video.

Mmm, this, Day of the Tentacle, and Phantasmagoria were great reasons to have a CD-ROM drive.
On the one hand, that is an awesome statue. On the other hand, it's a $235 statue. Were they to make every class, and were one inclined to purchase a statue of every class, that would be a $2,000 investment. After all, you can't have a Soldier without a Demoman, and you can't have a Demoman without an Engineer, etc.
So if Galactus wins, his last hit is an Earth-ender. Is that just for the cool visual of it and you can continue again or is this ala "Final Bison" from SFA3 where you go to game over after a loss? It would be fairly difficult to protect a planet that has been reduced to chunks. I can dig him as a final boss,…
@P3RF3CT D3ATH: Seeing stuff like this makes me sad that I never played BF2. Seriously, C4 jumping?!?
@Derek Baumer: I think it's awesome if the game reflects what's on it: tanks rolling through a giant city. Apparently the building destruction abilities are upped a great deal this time around. This could portend a new level of urban-based warfare.
@Nexus6: And miss out on the lucrative "juvenile delinquent" market? It would be great if there was some better oversight, were that even possible. Still, it would be hilarious to see people lose the ability for voice chat or sending messages at least, leaving a legion of silent little hellions to stew in their own…
@jjwallet: You're exactly correct, at least with me. I've been a huge fan of the series. The first DS was my favorite game of 2008, and what I've played at a friends' place of DS2 confirms to me that the series continues to be excellent. Thus, seeing such juvenile advertising was like a slap in the face. Also, what…
@absolofdoom: I've always supsected the primary reason for this is that many 360s are sold with a headset, and headsets are a big peripheral sold by Microsoft. With more access comes more use, thus more people having the opportunity to spout terrible things.
@Stalker: Well, yes, that exacerbates the problem, but all of this pre-pubescent bigotry and chauvinism has been around since gaming went online. That you couldn't party up in MW2 was a decision made to cut down on cheating, though it took away the sanctity of one's ears in the process. It's an example of elevating…
I miss when an advertisement showed how cool a game was by showing you, well, the cool parts of the game, without having to turn to some stupid, edgy gimmick. Granted that latter has existed for a long time, but I would rather watch the original TV ads for Bioshock any day than ads that need to rile people up to sell…
@Darkon_X: I wouldn't blame CoD or any type of game in particular, but rather the sheer presence of anonymity making stupid people extra willing to say stupid crap. This is a good read for the method behind the madness: [en.wikipedia.org]
Was looking at this sight yesterday and laughing. It sucks that there is most likely no way around the schlock that is thrown in the direction of people in online games, or on the Internet in general, but it is especially annoying for women. The female gamers I know have to put up with some of the most heinous shit,…
@nick1016: Oh, this is tough in the long run, but not nearly as difficult as SMB. The controls actually work well for the touch screen, as the jumping actions aren't as exacting.
Got this yesterday, it's great. Yes, it is comparable to Super Meat Boy in terms of simple yet involved gameplay, but don't be turned off if you thought SMB was too difficult. This game gets tough, but not nearly as frustrating. For a dollar you could do much worse. Hopefully there will be updates to this, it is a…
Not sure why this came to mind...
I'll choose 6: try to ford the street with my coach, all at the risk of drowning my ox. The risk is worth it, I tell ya!
Plenty of negativity on the Internet from the strongly opinionated. However, in terms of what stagnates creativity, there would be a lot of reasons for that which far outweigh "angry nerd demands." I'd put market viability, forced avenues by publishers, and technological restraints as the bigger problems.
@Sloopydrew: The phrase has been around. Think Stephen Colbert uses it a lot now, so it gradually etched into my brain and onto your screen. o_o
Hey, good on Activision, settling for a compromise that works for both sides.
