Sony bravely saturates the market with shiny expensive 3D products, only to be devastated next month when Apple reveals the amaaaaaazing iPhone with a 4D display. Stock prices plummet.

@Gambit09: Eghads, by seconds! Great minds think alike, so therefore, Kotaku, enjoy a double dose of Lundgren.

Now playing

After getting to try Transformers: War for Cybertron and seeing that it actually turned out pretty damn good, this has some hope. Then again, don't mess with a formula to much. Go simple, THQ! Don't get too out there, or you could end up with the Lundgren Effect!

You can try and replace the crayon, but it won't dissapear. Some simple devices have shocking staying power, and I see crayons as one of those.

@bruizar: FF6 and Chrono Trigger's music... I listen to those soundtracks orchestrated on their own more than I play the games now! :O

@The Sentient Meat: He has rarely dissapointed. In fact, don't think there is a single soundtrack he put together that I didn't enjoy. Check out his standalone band, it's good but quirky.

@buddhatooda: Aye, lag is the bane of fighting games. Not to say that there isn't a sense of competitiveness playing online, it's just that you never know when a random network or connection quirk is going to flub timing, screw up a combo, or end a fight entirely. That is the price for ease of access.

People tout FF7's soundtrack. To me, FF6 had the most profound pieces in the entire series. Heck, I'd go as far to say, half that game for me was loving the music and how it amplified everything happening on screen.

@buddhatooda: It is sad. There are places where such atmosphere will still exist (like these tournaments!), but that shift away from the face-to-face aspect of playing games is quite a bit depressing. Online and home gaming is good for some things, but it's hard to recreate the arcade experience.

@Akio Morita: Hmm, I could see that being a problem. Suppose that built-in content options are aiming towards a more casual mindset for whoever uses the device. That said, OnLive is also available as a standalone. Therein is the key factor: device manufacturers that are willing to make a product as a built-in

I think lumping the different DS models together is fair. If people are willing to shell out money to upgrade a system for what is, at it's core, the same product, yes. It's primary purpose has always been to play DS games, and the changes have heightened that experience to different ends. Each new version wasn't a

This is the future that tech thinkers were talking up several years ago, where several electronic devices that typically come housed in their own boxes are built straight into the TV itself. This new breed of Internet-enabled TV is an attractive direction. Combos like this may also be a good strategy for upstarts

@Archaotic: I think they just wanted out of the video game business, period. If the financial result of selling Harmonix was to break even on both sides, perhaps it's a sign of wanting to close the doors on a venture that, from Viacom's end, was horribly mismanaged. In this way at least both sides come away fairly

@JDickson87: Oh yes, hands down Bulletstorm already has given off great impressions to people who have gotten to give it a go. However, not into ads that insult possible purchasers. I suppose there is even a fine line to that where it could work in a perverse way. It sure as hell didn't with Daikatana, and I've seen

Because the advertising concept of insulting the consumer has appealed so well in the past...

While I think the breakdown of the games tax initiative was bad for the U.K., I don't think Kotick has that much of a justification in threatening Activision employees when there is already a company precedence for relocating jobs to other countries as a cost-cutting measure. Big business becomes slimy when slightly

@Xyless: AvS has to stand for something... @_@

@CheritaChen85: I don't know... if AvP turned out as bad as it did, that sounds like a stinker.

Looks like Christmas won't end well for Sonic. And it will be the most fun and engaging event involving Sonic in ages!

@mrClint: What Liberty City lacks in land mass compared to San Andreas, it makes up for in density and detail. Yeah, it is a bit sad to see the desert and countryside gone from the picture, but if you explore, there is much to experience in GTA4. Oh, and the writing/plot is the best in the series, coupled with the
