Why does it matter that she’s a woman and a mother?!!!! I’m so damn sick of celebrities using motherhood to wash away the horrible things they’ve done. Brezinski’s an idiot.

I was most offended by Mika stating it was wrong to criticize a mother. GROSS.

Exactly. Had it been as inappropriate as they’re making out, it would so so whether or not she had 20 kids or 0. She has an identity beyond who she married or birthed.

Also as if her marriage or children mean she is above criticism somehow. It’s pathetic but also the joke Michelle made about Mike likely pissed her off.

“...Fuck that noise. Her skills as a wife and mother weren’t being discussed.” Yes, as if it would be ok to comment on the cosmetics an unmarried non-mother uses? Seriously, this whole thing has me scratching my head. PS-I thought both jokes were funny, and Michelle could have gone a lot further!!!

Maybe they haven’t seen “Handmaid’s Tale” and just Googled “Aunt Lydia” after the dinner and made their own assumptions?

That’s what I don’t get-why is what Trump says OK? Plus, those were two funny jokes. Seriously, SHS always looks to me like she’s all set to go clubbing after work.

“Watching a wife and mother be humiliated on national television for her looks is deplorable ... All women have a duty to unite when these attacks happen and the WHCA owes Sarah an apology.”

FUCKING PREACH. Do these journalists not read the stories they write? How were they expecting a comedian to respond to an administration that is explicitly racist, xenophobic, homophobic, and anti-women? Michelle Wolf gave a biting critique not only of an awful regime but also of the media personalities who enabled

The worst one was Andrea Mitchell.

There is a lot of gross implications in what Mika said. It sounds like if a woman does what society expects they will be protected. Frankly, if that is the case it doesn’t apply to all women who are wives and mothers.

Because without her/the entire Trump administration, there’d be no ratings. They’ll hop right into bed with the enemy for a buck.

So none of these journalists demand an apology from Trump when he says seriously horrible things? Do you call him out he doesn’t have a sense of decency or purpose about his job?

Agreed. I did not interpret the “Aunt Lydia” comment as a comment on appearance at all. Maybe they haven’t seen “Handmaid’s Tale” and just Googled “Aunt Lydia” after the dinner and made their own assumptions?

Remember, people:

I really love that they truly don’t understand that they’re proving her point. And IF (a serious IF) they do, they’re likely trying to have their cake and eat it too but fuck all that.

She is so right.

Michelle Wolf was calling her a liar and a gaslighter. That is all true. She would fit right in at with the other aunties in the Handmaid’s Tale. Frankly, I’m disgusted by all the women rushing to her defense. She is not the one that needs to be defended.

Christ, these journalists are just falling over themselves to defend SHS, latching onto a throwaway joke about eyeshadow in their eagerness to keep their places at the Trump feeding trough.

This Greg’s knowledge of the song probably works like the Wrangler’s commercial, it only has the first lyric: “Some folks are born made to wave the flag, ooh they red, white and blue”.
