Cranston, you nailed.
Cranston, you nailed.
Great! Now just add more episodic reviews, less tabloid clickbait newswire articles, get rid of the kinja comment section and go back to Disqus (never thought I’d say that) or something better, and we’ll be halfway there.
Star Trek was always a character-driven series in its many incarnations but with Discovery and Picard, that seems to be the one thing the writers lack in both depth and cohesion. They check off a list of common character tropes but there’s very little beyond that in the characters themselves and thus find myself…
I could understand if this show was representing Nazis’ in a positive light, but this is just a fictionalized version of their cruelty, in a fictionalized work. Nothing about this show screams realism.
Nazi treatment of concentration camp prisoners was arbitrary and cruel. While none may have actually conducted human chess matches, knowing what we do about the things that actually happened it’s exactly the type of horrific absurdity you wouldn’t be the least bit surprised to read about.
I think if Hunters is what makes you think the Holocaust is fake, you probably already had a fair bit of denialism going on. I also find it odd that they would repost the photo while stating that it’s false. Doesn’t that just put it out there to far more people than saw the show?
It’s silly to say that all representations of the Holocaust have to be 100% truthful and that, went depicting Nazi atrocities, you can’t create fictional events. Nobody is going to watch Hunters and think it’s a documentary nor are they going in ready to deny the Holocaust happened. Those are will deny the Holocaust…
And Nacho picking up Saul is to represent Krazy-8 and get him the inside info more than likely, which compromises our protagonist lawyer, and gets him involved fully in this whole Lalo/Nacho mess that he references when we first meet Mr. Goodman in Breaking Bad.
Michael Mando’s acting in this episode was superb.
The only worrisome note sounds when Lalo says he’s got something “much better” planned for Domingo than Nacho ensuring his silence in custody.
Great opening episode and welcome back BCS and Donna!
As far as I can tell the Vulture commenting system seems fine, but like I alluded to, you might get 1 to 5 comments per review. Even now, it’s nonexistent compared to what you have here.
But how is their commenting system? Because hot damn I still hate Kinja so hard. I used to loathe Disqus until I saw this monstrosity.
And honestly, while I appreciate the professional reviewers on here, I’ve gotten at least as much enjoyment and insight from the thoughts posted in the comments. If they could even just open up a discussion space with no formal review for each episode of a show like this, that would be most appreciated.
Incognito Mode!
It’s sad and dreadful. One last shiv in the back after the Kinjapocalypse. This site has become a dead whale carcass, slowly drifting to shore while every nibbler in the sea takes a bite out of it along the way.
Damn... I appreciate your pre-air review Joelle, but this probably means no episodic reviews then?
I’m sold. Do it Marvel!
I want Mads Mikkelsen as Doctor Doom, and I don’t care that he was already an MCU villain. Then they should age everybody else up to appropriately match Mads Mikkelsen, and make Johnny Sue’s son from a previous marriage instead of her brother, because nobody wants to see a guy in his 50s playing pranks on Ben Grimm.
Exactly what I was thinking.
