“And that’s the problem with him telling Tyrion he traveled all that way to King’s Landing to become king. Why? How? Was he a 17-level-chess genius who anticipated that exact sequence of events would happen? Or did Bran know everything that was going to happen before it did?”

The point of the story is that regardless of your intentions, playing The Game of Thrones will either kill you or corrupt you and that the only way to win is not to play.

I’ll say it before and I’ll say it again: Much like Stannis burning Shireen, Dany burninating Kings Landing makes thematic sense since one of the series’ major themes is that questing for the Iron Throne, no matter your reasons for doing so, is inherently corruptible and the only way to win The Game of Thrones is not

That dude is an idiot that just argues with everyone and refuses to listen to reason. Has a history of racism on io9 too.

Not sure what planet you’ve been living on but it’s pretty well reported, and just a Google search away that the last two Star Wars movies are highly divisive among the fanbase, regardless what Rotten Tomatoes rating is.

Except that mainline saga Star Wars films pretty much hits the top ten automatically.

Let’s hope Cogman has better luck writing a Lord of the Rings show than Abrams had making a Star Trek and a Star Wars.

Sloppy seconds, huh?

“Well … yes. And no. And yes. And no. And yes. And no. And yes.”

From the POV of someone who didn’t watch the show but would read reviews here and there soas to at least have a bit of knowledge about the show: I’m glad I didn’t watch it, it sounds like it started boring and ended stupid.

Good for you?

Uh... I mean love or hate this season or how it’s ending—given that Game of Thrones is a cultural phenomena—this was as good a bet as a given result gets.

That wasn’t a fade-to-black in the Sopranos finale. That was a slam-cut-to-black. I didn’t have any other lights on in the room so I thought the fucking power went out when that shit happened.

So that’s the real reason GRRM hasn’t finished ASOIAF, he knows the ending will suck. Maybe D&D are following his plan to the letter basically, since that appears to be the outcome.

Witness’s report Arnold turned and said “I’ll be back”, giving it a whole new meaning.

Sure, but Neil Gaiman’s a goddamned national treasure. He’s the human equivalent of finding a gummy bear in your pocket.

I once saw Neil Gaiman speak at a book signing and when someone asked him about him writing a several book long series he kinda talked about his theories on those styles of writers and how “Authors truly can’t gauge how successful their series are until they finish them and find out how much everyone hates the last

Neat. I can’t wait to enjoy the first 2/3rds of the series...

So Rick the Archmage and Morty the Master Thief... cool.

Thanks!
