Yes. We do.

No. Yes. Respectively.

It’s still true, until everyone else starts pulling their weight - which we know isn’t happening.

Why do you think we do it?

As soon as the rest of the world stops waiting/begging for the US to respond to crises, maybe it’ll stop.

The world goes as we go. You should be used to it by now.

We know. We just don’t care.

What we mean by that: The leader of the country with the 2nd most nuclear bombs but the most nuclear ships and subs that can bomb your home. But, yeah, that free world moniker sucks. I apologize on behalf of me.

I’ll admit, that’s really the rub, isn’t it? How do you staff an organization of people whose job is to kill people to further the aims of a nation-state, and keep out the people who are inherently violent? I suppose you can’t really leave it up to the honor system. You need a crap-ton of oversight and discipline to

They’re not heroes. They’re citizen soldiers.

Based on everything you know about the type of person who wants to join the Marines, are you surprised?

I find it extremely hard to believe someone would say that on a crowded plane. That sounds exactly the type of story one would make up in an attempt to make someone look bad. It just sounds super villain evil fake.

This is by who’s account? In every single experience I have had flying they would allow someone who needed assistance to board first. If that person shows up in the middle of the boarding process, they ask them to wait. I find it hard to believe, it sounds made up to get the most sympathy, if you ask me.

The particular movie in the hacks was American Hustle, and she got paid less than Christian Bale and Bradley Cooper.

This ^^^. Ten thousand times this. They get paid more for a month of work than most people will make in a WHOLE lifetime of work.

Aaand just a few years ago Sandra Bullock made $75 million with just ONE movie (Gravity). The yearly earnings of a movie star depend on the number of big production he/she is in within a calendar year. If Downey Jr decides to take on some small budget indie movies, he’ll make only a fraction of that next year. If he

I’m just wondering why she didn’t give examples of her being offered less than a lesser male co-star in the same movie. If she’s not talking about a direct co-star in the same movie, she’s breaking a cardinal rule of comparitive economics: ceteris paribus, or holding everything else equal. She might be referencing

That would be a fairer point if she had the Oscar and those box office earnings at the time the contract was signed.

Look, wage inequality is a big issue but it becomes very murky when we are talking about much more subjective valuations. Actors aren’t fungible so that you can say one is equivalent to another.

I am familiar with the trials and tribulations of JLaw. They are shoved down the public’s throat on a regular basis. My god, there are so many rabid JLaw fans.

What male counterparts are getting paid more? If it’s RDJ, then it’s deserved, as he gets a portion of the gross of his movies (plus, he’s RDJ and he’s been in the game since the 80s).

The problem with J.Law talking about it is that all the men being paid more have either been in the industry longer, or have their own
