Remember he abandoned his family minus Morty to the chronenberg monsters in season one and enslaved a universe to run his car in season 2. I think it's a mix, we'll probably get some acts of Rick kindness later to us undecided on how evil genius he is.

I agree with @factfindingmission - the poster, Mr Goldenfold seemed to have been going there a while, a book of people eating crap photographs just on her table, ''If you know anyone who eats poop, sent them to me" and even more subtle than the poster - ''When I brush my teeth and wipe my ass"
