Good catch. Yeah loved this too.

It was both. Boyd wanted to live, and if he was going to be shot, he wanted to force Raylan to do it to an unarmed man.

Ava having the kid worked for me because they clearly set it up a while ago considering you can pretty much pinpoint the episode where the kid was conceived. (Eva and Boyd's drunken bonding with a subtext of distrust time)

He had such a matter of fact way of speaking that if he told me I was dead I might believe it just because of how he talked. It definitely helped him as a threat maker and a villain.

Credit to Justified's casting director PEROID. Never in TV history have I seen a show so well cast. It wasn't about getting big names, it was about getting unexpected names or smaller names that were perfect for the role.

Yes, I do hate in final seasons where characters get more incompetent or reckless or dumb in the final seasons just because it's the final season and it needs setup for "things happening".

How many AVClub A's in a row was this? I certain it had to be some kind of record for TV reviews on this site.

Raylan was cleaning his desk and needed a bag. Tim wants his bag back though.

Tim and Rachel were always ignored, so it was a fitting end for them. They were more charming as smaller characters anyway.

Even though they were playing it seriously, I think of that scene more humorously than "gory". He disarmed him, remember? And he wouldn't let him have his arm back too.

Thank you for reminding me of this great line.

They are uptight british people, isn't that the definition of amazing acting?

I'd be nervous about any pies Loretta might serve, particularly if they are apple.

I saw this, I thought it was a weird choice, because it would make more sense/be easier if they just said previous seasons didn't all take years.

I wanted to see Art's tits, but we don't always get what we want. :(

    The wrong kid died!

Raylan's closest moment to darkness was when he was ready to let Bob bleed out to kill Boyd as he so wanted to do. Which is why Boyd said "then I've already won".

It is interesting then that they still managed to not make anybody feel safe from a viewer standpoint.

It was a spray of blood from his head, which is even worse, but I loved how it was shot. Did not strike me as CG blood splatter (which I hate). So props for Olyphant wearing a squib on his head.

When I saw that ending when I was young I thought it was awesome, only later was I like "wait, that guy was a creep and evil criminal and he got off fine?"
