I never said that. I just think it misses the point to detail all of the show’s criticisms when a first-year show created by and starring a very talented young comedian had a lot more pros than cons. That there’s not much else on TV like it, I think it’s unfair to say the show didn’t “soar.”
I suppose, if that was the case. But I don’t think that applies here since my point was more to imply lightening up in regards to criticizing Atlanta. This piece reads as nit-picking whereas there is a lot to be happy with the show. For a first-time creator, even though he has written before, Donald Glover took a lot…
I like all the characters a lot but Brian Tyree Henry is absolutely stealing the show for me.
Yes, they lost to Cagliari and Palermo, and the draw against Fiorentina was probably undeserved, but Atalanta have taken wins from Inter, Napoli and Torino and are sitting comfortably sixth. A mid-table finish in Serie A is a reasonable goal for a club with modest ambitions.
It is odd that a soccer writer demands resolution of every plot.
This. 100%.
Ok, now you guys sound like crusty old white men on twitter...
Agree, is this a “Billy is wrong about something other than soccer” test balloon for a new column?
I dunno, everyone was charming and I looked forward to spending time with them each week. Sort of like Everybody Wants Some directed by Spike Lee.
Never have I more heartily cosigned a sentiment.
Nah.
