Audi wasn’t making convertibles in the 60's, but the A5 convertible ticks almost all of your very disjointed boxes.

Yeah, I forgot about the incomplete combustion. Since the “combustion chamber” effectively moves as the rotor turns, the flame front is always chasing the air/fuel mixture, so you get a bunch of incompletely burnt fuel in the exhaust along with the oil that’s squirted on the rotor face.
I wonder if something like a diesel particulate filter and/or diesel exhaust fluid would work to clean up rotary emissions?
What they should do is just copy what Hyundai did with the Ioniq 5 N. Paddle shifters, speakers under the hood and trunk to mimic induction, engine, and exhaust noise, artificial gears/red line and engine braking. Hyundai has shown that EVs can be genuinely fun for traditional enthusiasts if you lie convincingly in a…
The AetherSX2 PS2 emulator. More specifically, running Need For Speed: Most Wanted.
Not quite. Acura has a lot more bespoke parts than you’d think. They have engines and AWD systems that are bespoke to Acura, like the turbo V6 (MDX, TLX), SH-AWD system, double-wishbone suspension, and their transmissions. Where Honda uses CVT’s in their smaller cars and ZF 9 speeds in the larger vehicles, Acura has…
I remember this story from a long time ago. I think the Viper completely abandoned the aluminum unibody construction of what became the SLS after Chrysler went bankrupt, and went with a tubular steel chassis.
Detroit or Florida were both perfectly logical assumptions.
Oh, on SOMEONE ELSE’S roof!
Nah, Mazda parts I can confirm are cheap. They’ve mastered the art of platform sharing, so ALL their cars (except the CX-70/90) use the same 2 powertrains, so a lot of the mechanical and electrical components are identical. Keeps costs down by not having to have a bunch of variations of critical components.
Lexus parts are probably considerably more expensive than most cars on this list. Lexus cars have a lot of bespoke parts compared to their Toyota counterparts, and models that don’t even have a Toyota counterpart, like the IS, LS, and RC.
I’m thinking they’re cooking up some sort of AR game with models of real locations. Google has an absolute LOCK on mobile navigation, so it makes zero sense to make a competitor, unless it’s some sort of Pokemon themed nav app. That’s not too far from the realm of possibility, since there’s also that Pokemon Sleep…
I COMPLETELY forgot about that. It’s probably just mapping data for an upcoming AR game TBH.
What I’m saying is that of course Ford is perfectly within their rights to defend their trademark, but this situation is causing Ford ZERO harm, financial or otherwise. If anything, they’re making a sale on every one made, since Vintage Broncos has to buy a brand new Bronco to body swap in the first place. Like an…
Not the same market at all. A Bronco from Ford top out at around $90k for a Bronco Raptor, and one from Vintage Broncos is probably around double that.
The 2 Series Gran Coupe is one of the most ungainly looking cars on the road today. Not a single angle looks good. BMW’s design language REALLY doesn’t translate well to a FWD platform. Same for the 2nd and 3rd gen X1/X2. The dash-to-axle ratio is just too short for that tall, upright grille. Makes the cars look like…
Why does it physically hurt to look at?
I think Hummer as a brand has had this innate and inescapable air of douchebaggery surrounding it that the Cybertruck can only hope to aspire to.
Pontiac GTO. Underrated sports car that was let down by its looks not effectively telegraphing the performance. I dig the looks, BTW. Mechanically, parts availability should be just fine, as long as you don’t crash it and need body panels. The ones in your price range are probably gonna be rough around the edges, but…
It’s a lovely truck, inside and out, VERY low mileage for the age, and looks to have been well loved. But $19k is just too much. People are paying these prices for pristine Toyota pickups, which is STILL too much, but the market already exists for those.
