There is one good reason, and that is $$$MONEY$$$$, who knows..... keeping the designs similar/ key element or reducing/ adding etc... could save them millions. Especially from Jim Hollands design engineering background, a single nut or bolt extra could cost them $$$.

Its Victoria Beckham, and she had no "design" influence on any Range Rover, she simply worked with RR to create a special edition.

Explorer's chief design engineer is Jim Holland, who was also a chief design engineer for Land Rover, and more specifically the Range Rover.
