I thought Dogmeat was immortal in 3 too but once I sent him out to find ammo and got the little pop up that he died. I reloaded a save and made him stay at my house for the rest of the game.

See you say that. Drive through any kind of city, any town with parking on the street, etc etc. Cab forwards are great for tight areas. And cab overs are actually pretty safe.
GM’s been doing that with the Fuso / Isuzu NPR platform since the 1990s. I love cabovers but this is nothing new!
