I agree. I thought the one the reasons of the lawsuit was too dig deep and to really find collusion that NFL teams were not going to hire him. They don’t have to spend the money if they don’t want to, especially if they can get a better return on another investment. Maybe now they think the investment will pay off, or maybe the expense is worth the PR. Most people prefer to consume sports at the highest level which usually means watching (& paying) men play…

If it hasn’t become profitable to field a women’s team - which is the point of the comment - then it doesn’t matter how much money a corporation has. Throwing away money is never a good thing.
