I wish I could find the image of 5 or 6 Burger Kings at the front door with the caption “Join Us or Die.” It was amusing but seems to be lost to the ages.

I have no idea, unfortunately.

Back in the day, a friend of my older brother watched Xanadu while on acid. He had to go back to the theatre and watch it sober to see how much he had hallucinated.

I really loved the timeline jumping in the Witcher. Around Episode 4 I figured it out and said out loud, “Oh, they’re flashbacks!” I’ve watched the first season 3 times now, and I’ve watched the banquet episode even more. I thought it was all well done.

Don’t forget the lollipop wings. A Korean-Chinese place near me in Chicago has them. The regular spice level is way too hot for me, but the non-spicy version is too plain.

an oldie but goodie

Wendy’s - Single, cheese, everything combo meal with a Dr. Pepper

Brie, shredded gruyere/comte, Kalamata olive tapenade, marshmallow fluff, peanut butter, grape jelly, dill or sweet relish, Vanilla frosting from a can. Anything, really.

Mass Effect 3 multiplayer for me. I still have quite a few challenges to finish and items to collect. Just a couple of days ago I searched online for soloing tips, and now I’m using the Kroguard to get my solo/melee/over the top grab challenges.

Blizzard? In Chicago? When did this happen? It’s just February outside. Honestly. :)

A Mornay Sauce goes great with those chicken breasts, and it doesn’t take too long to make.

Yeah, I stopped reading the editorial many, many years ago. What you wrote makes a lot of sense. I remember reading their banana bread recipe where you microwave sliced bananas and collect the juice, and thinking, “yeah, no.” I still enjoy flipping through the magazine, but I’m not making a lot of new recipes these

Out of curiosity what is it you don’t like about Cook’s Illustrated and Christopher Kimball? I’m a long time subscriber to the magazine but have never watched the TV show. And I have no idea why Christopher Kimball left CI. Thanks.

I’m bummed you don’t like Grunt.  He’s awesome.

When I lived in CA, I tried menudo once. Once. It smelled like canned dog food, and although I like raw oysters, those pieces of tripe were just way too slippery. I added all the garnishments to the bowl (cilantro, chopped onions, squeeze of lemon), and just managed to eat it.

Salt-rising bread is definitely worth trying. It doesn’t have extra salt, but it does have a slight sour/cheese aroma - It’s something like a sourdough. Makes great toast.

Weed always made me nauseous, so I only tried it a handful of times when I was younger. So I was pretty trepidatious about trying the soda, but it didn’t really affect me either way.

I accidentally bought some CBD soda about a year ago. Thought it just a new brand of regular soda. I tried one each of Black Cherry, Cola, and Lemonade flavors. They weren’t very good. They tasted like watered down versions of the flavors.
