A Mornay Sauce goes great with those chicken breasts, and it doesn’t take too long to make.
Yeah, I stopped reading the editorial many, many years ago. What you wrote makes a lot of sense. I remember reading their banana bread recipe where you microwave sliced bananas and collect the juice, and thinking, “yeah, no.” I still enjoy flipping through the magazine, but I’m not making a lot of new recipes these…
Out of curiosity what is it you don’t like about Cook’s Illustrated and Christopher Kimball? I’m a long time subscriber to the magazine but have never watched the TV show. And I have no idea why Christopher Kimball left CI. Thanks.
I’m bummed you don’t like Grunt. He’s awesome.
When I lived in CA, I tried menudo once. Once. It smelled like canned dog food, and although I like raw oysters, those pieces of tripe were just way too slippery. I added all the garnishments to the bowl (cilantro, chopped onions, squeeze of lemon), and just managed to eat it.
Salt-rising bread is definitely worth trying. It doesn’t have extra salt, but it does have a slight sour/cheese aroma - It’s something like a sourdough. Makes great toast.
That’s all very nice, but what effect will this have on cat toys????
Weed always made me nauseous, so I only tried it a handful of times when I was younger. So I was pretty trepidatious about trying the soda, but it didn’t really affect me either way.
I accidentally bought some CBD soda about a year ago. Thought it just a new brand of regular soda. I tried one each of Black Cherry, Cola, and Lemonade flavors. They weren’t very good. They tasted like watered down versions of the flavors.
Was that the Boston Market on Western in the corner of a strip mall parking lot?
I did too. The Braves were usually on Channel 17 in Atlanta, and we could barely get reception in TN (didn’t have cable yet). But as soon as he got close to 714, the major networks were showing every Braves game, and we were watching. It’s a fun memory.
In ME1 I loved taking long awkward elevator rides with my two LI’s as companions. There was never any dialogue specific to the situation, I just thought it was fun.
The easy bet is that one gets powers and that causes tension between them. Maybe the other gets powers later, but by that time, the drama’s already there.
In the comic Kingdom Come when Bruce Wayne orders a steak well done, I was so very disappointed in The Batman. (or at least the writer)
Potato Leek soup is an easy recipe. Water, potatoes, leeks, and salt. Run it through the blender, eat it as is, or start adding what you want. steamed carrots, boiled green beans, packages of frozen _____(corn, peas, okra, etc.), sautéed mushrooms, cooked chicken. It’s a bit bland and needs butter or cream or hot…
If you love spicy, you should try Spicy Mango Pickle. It’s an Indian chutney/pickle and it’s delightful. Too spicy for me, but the taste is wonderful (salty, tangy, chilis, HOT), and I partake when I can. The best versions I’ve had are from local Indian restaurants.
And then one day in the basement of the FBI building, Clarice stumbles on an old filing cabinet marked “X-Files,” and things get really weird.
