Viacom has owned Showtime since its launch in 1976 and they’ve also owned Paramount since 1994. It’s just the branding that’s changed there.

Seriously, warner Bros. is the king of terrible mergers. The AOL-Time Warner deal ended up being a debacle, the AT&T deal was awful from the go, and then they got hoovered up by the guy who ruined the Discovery networks. I expect this one to go roughly as well as the others.

You can have a loosely Star Trek-themed reality show starring Chip and Joanna Gaines and that’s it.

Exactly. I’m glad that my Pilot still has built-in satnav for those rare situations where I don’t have any cell service (like this summer at my friend’s lake house), but the ability to use a navigation app that I’m familiar with and is always up-to-date is fantastic. The Pilot’s nav system is... usable as an

Unfortunately for him, facial hair plug technology isn’t nearly as advanced as the stuff he has attached to the top of his head.

I loved in the “How It Should Have Ended” video about that movie where Khan did the big “my name is KHAAAAAAN” reveal and Kirk just said “uh, hi! I’m Kirk, this is Spock, and this is Bones.”

I don’t know to what extent MCU fatigue is or is not a widespread thing, but it sure feels like it’s affecting me. Perhaps it’s because Endgame felt like a natural stopping (well, pausing or at least slowing down) point, but they more or less rolled right into the next phase full steam ahead.

Now playing

There was a very good YouTube video about it, at least tangentially. Basically, it went from “you must use one of these two sealed-beam headlights” to the Wild West because regulations haven’t caught up with the technology.

I don’t post directly to social media much, so for me it’s more a matter of easily transferring screenshots to my computer. Xbox, at least, makes that easy with direct OneDrive integration; with my PS5, it’s always a multi-step process - either copy it to an external USB drive, physically move that drive, then copy it

I’m convinced that Microsoft wants to get out of the console hardware business so that they can concentrate on GamePass. It really seems like, if they had their druthers, there won’t be a real Xbox console when the next generation rolls around. In that case, the choices would be a streaming device of some sort that

Sony also ended Twitter integration on PS5 this year as it pivots social media sharing to the smartphone PS App.

[T]he network is finally trying to the show’s music rights so it can be released on streaming.

He’s still holding out for that Gerald Ford biopic.

It does help solve the Captain Kirk problem. Kirk as an admiral flying a desk isn’t a particularly compelling use of the character, so they had to figure out a way to make him the captain of a ship, usually (with the exception of STIV until the very end) the Enterprise for every TOS film.

I somehow managed to walk away from this 1982 K-Car with a nasty cut on my chin (from it hitting the steering wheel), an injured hand, and bruises from seatbelt. A few inches closer to the driver’s side, though, and I would’ve been very dead; the steering wheel was about 2" from my chest as it was.

This is the way. Vote with your wallet.

I was just going to bring that up! Apparently Troughton just said “nah” when they asked him to dye his hair for the role.

Moffat is a better writer of episodes than RTD. RTD was a better overall show runner.

The other thing is how they handled the aftermath his departure. According to Eccleston (and I have no reason to doubt him):

Way back in days of yore, I had a VW Passat with their “high-end” infotainment system. It was hilariously terrible, legitimately the slowest I’ve ever seen in my life (not just counting vehicles I’ve owned, also including any I’ve been in). I replaced it with a lovely Pioneer AVIC headunit and it was so, so much
