Haven’t watched season 3 (yet), but read the books, and this was the exact scenario I was thinking of.

From what I’ve seen elsewhere (Digitial Foundry covered it I believe), yes!

The officially licensed Retro-Bit controllers are available separately, but it’s a crime they’re not included.

The TL:DR is I think BotW doesn’t reward creative thinking for dealing with scenarios nearly well enough, and it still has a deep rooted need to limit the player, which is really counter productive to what the game is going for. It misses some core tenets of emergent game design.

For combat and climbing to be fixed by

Same, and this article really hits on some of the reasons the game grates me the wrong way.

It’s there, it’s just SUPER subtle. They’ve got some camera perspective based edge lighting/shading going on, some REALLY subtle directional lighting, as well as slight shading painted into the model textures.

Simple, he learned from his mistakes, not only admitted to them, but then proved he had learned from them through action.

Is it mandatory? The previous multiplayer stuff wasn’t mandatory, and you always had the choice of a solo game. I assume they wouldn’t remove that here.

I dunno, rocket punching across the landscape is still really satisfying, especially when you time it just right, and end up just launching across the terrain. I wish more games had a similar mechanic.

counter-point: They’ve consistently shown the inability/lack of care/lack of foresight to future proof their tech, requiring them to make excuses now. They are not a tech savvy company, and practically every generation of games further proves that they really need to hire some quality engine devs or something.

You’re 100% right on the money here. Their lazy engine development and terrible use of the hardware their games are on has been a complaint of mine for ages now. The national dex was just the last straw.

They were either faked really well during the PS2 era, or extremely limited in use and expensive. Both of those are still possible today, they just aren’t used as frequently.

That’s ok, the rest of us forgot Papa Roach was a thing that existed, so balance in the universe is maintained.

Oh cool, thanks for the heads up, I hadn’t heard that news yet. That wasn’t the case when they originally posted this deal.

100% agree.

I dunno, people do change that late in life, and change dramatically. It’s why we have the term “midlife crisis”, and it’s seen so much in pop-culture.

Yeah, it’s a crime the pain he caused, but he was a 21 year old indoctrinated into a belief system, writing about something he probably had almost no experience with.

Apparently it does allow play in airplane mode, but the initial setup (with a Bethesda account) is required. After that, it just grumbles at you that network features will be disabled, but still allows you to play.
