About the same number of times that they’ve posted articles saying EVs are still net positive on emissions compared to ICE over their entire life cycle and that lithium will soon be phased out as the primary component in battery cell production.

Who buys this over a 911 or Cayman? And why?

More propaganda from BIG DUST

Exactly. And they know how capital intensive a switch is going to be if they want to start seriously pumping out EVs in volume. Much safer to wait and see how things play out before they start retooling and sourcing for large scale BEV production.

This guy manufactures

I’d be fine with that same approach. It would push more development of hybrids and things like synthetic fuels and ceramic engine components to extend the life of ICE technology.

Because it’s a very expensive risk.

That very well could be the case. But I don’t remember governments and regulating bodies outlawing pure ICE cars so people would buy hybrids.

You have no idea how the auto industry works if you think what Ford and GM are doing is anything close to methodical.

Everything is a compromise, at the end of the day. They may be harder to engineer, but Toyota has figured out how to do it (GM too, with the Volt - though they have LG to thank for a lot of that). For customers, EVs will come with more compromise than hybrids for at least the next 10 years.

Sure, we may see that. We are at the very least a decade away from that parity.

Because for a vast majority of the population, THEY ARE GOOD ENOUGH. Toyota is banking on people realizing this and since they already know how to make hybrids really well, they are just biding their time rather than spending ungodly amounts of money on the latest hot thing to grab simple minded shareholder’s and

It’s fine. Definitely worse ways to spend 2 hours.

Nah, I actually think large trucks and SUVs are stupid. But the way to go about this is regulating excess and convincing people to buy things that they actually need, rather than what they want. Like enforcing the same safety and emissions regulations on SUVs and trucks. But that’s incredibly unpopular and will never

And so we slide farther down the slippery slope.

Honestly surprised it’s not higher.

But how much of that comes from transportation? Everyone’s acting like EVs are a silver bullet. It’s not even close.

Polestar blasting companies for not being as quick to commit to EVs is like complaining that a cruise ship is less maneuverable than a 7 foot paddle boat. Idiotic.

Fair point. That being said, I really doubt most Europeans would by bro dozers and large SUVs even if regulations allowed. It just doesn’t make sense for many of their lifestyles.

Welcome to the future, friends!
