True. Or maybe 4 episodes every other year...

It’s so fucking... British of them.

10-15 years ago I challenged my students to limit the number of uses of “to be” (be am is are was were been being etc. etc.) to just a few per page when writing short papers. It eliminates passive sentences and forces them to use more colorful and active language that gets straight to the point. I liked the results,

I laughed hard when Oprah said to Gayle, “I don’t know Stedman’s [passwords] and I don’t have yours,” and Gayle shot back, “I have yours!” Because of course she does. Also, Oprah is like my mom. I’m glad she’s having the sex and it’s fun and enjoyable for her, but I don’t wanna know!

I agree that working out in the “fat burning zone” might help a person work out more regularly and for longer periods of time, thus facilitating exercise and weight loss. When I was cycling on college teams (25+ years ago), we used to do “long-slow-distance” rides in the winter, keeping heart rate around 120-140. It

That’s the word I use for my parents.

Get out of here with all that fact-based, civics class information!

100% want a Superman show with Tyler Hoechlin. He’s really great, probably my favorite take on Superman that isn’t animation.

Ding ding ding. You win.

Smart kitty. Good luck with the kid. It’s difficult to know any of this until the shit hits the fan. Not a good situation for anyone, especially for children who aren’t getting the help they need.

After Christopher Reeve (who is deeply embedded in my childhood), this version of Supes/Clark is my favorite. Hoechlin really nails it and he looks the part.

Skim milk generally/often has more sugar as well.

Kids like that make adult friendships really difficult. We eventually stopped hanging out with a couple we liked because of their devil child. He’s only getting older and more dangerous, but our friends insist that there’s no problem. That’s cool, you’re welcome to your opinion, but I don’t want this little bastard

Cane’s FTW.

I admire your energy, but we are truly fucked. In fact, I think we’re fucked even harder than most people realize. Fortunately my wife and I didn’t have children to leave behind, but all of this is going to get worse and worse: drought, fires, migrations of desperate people, none of this is going to work out.

“That’s my birthday.” Janet rules.

For religious purposes, it’s an option she has chosen, not a mandate. It’s stupid of her to claim otherwise, but not as stupid as a Congressional rule that prevents her from wearing it.

Her faith does allow it, just not her particular flavor of that faith.

Exactly. If it’s so great, and done for “religious” reasons, why doesn’t everyone do it?

Yup.
