The owner of that 356 is a guy named Rusty Willey, and that car is one of the most remarkable builds I have ever seen in my life. Here is his build thread from 356registry.com. The green car in the first post (the one with the crushed roof) is the car Murilee pictured here. It is simply incredible.

@Smitty: Lies. Studebaker's greatest names were as follows:

@Evil_Genius: Yeah... they were in the presence of a car that carried more balls than they might ever have. Sure they're very good at what they do, but Hamilton makes a very good point... the shifters are not on the wheel. Senna had to drive an F1 car with ONE HAND. Those are some mighty brass ones.

Excuse me, but the Chrysler TC by Maserati is FAR less classy than a regular LeBaron. Look at the portholes!

@FjordGreenPorsche: Also, for those too lazy to click the link, the answer is "Mk.I VW Golf/Rabbit"

@ranwhenparked: We had a Tempo diesel, briefly. We learned on that car that the rear quarterlight it the most expensive window to break if you lock the keys in your car.

My dad had a late 80s Ford Escort wagon when I was very young. It had a BBS chinspoiler on it designed for a Mk.I Jetta GLi. A rare item he cut up and made to fit his Escort. I'm sure Mk.I fanatics are rolling in their graves!

I hate minivan owners with 2 kids. If you have two kids, you don't need a minivan. My sister and I are four years apart, and there are just the two of us. When we were in that period of our childhoods where we brought the most stuff around with us our parents had a Mazda Protege and a Honda Accord coupe. In either one

@Ron Erickson: Small, loud, smelly and/or german.... My girlfriends have all hated that when we're driving I'll do a double take when I see a first gen M5, or a Mk.II GLi or something... they always think I am looking at other women on the sidewalk. They have all been distraught when they find out that no, I'm not

Some things my dad taught me not on this list:

My radiator is held in with Zip Ties. Enough said.

Wow, I am late to this game. My dad has owned some fun stuff, mostly Volkswagens, and my step-dad has had a few fun cars of late too. Let's run them down shall we?

The 1950-51 Studebaker bulletnose had a very distinctive nose, and some intriguing curves but I would argue that it is not beautiful. This is coming from a serious Studebaker "fanboi." If you want to see beautiful out of a Studebaker you need to look around a little more. The Bulletnose had buggy out eyes and a pointy

@Paul Y. is dumb all over: Air cooled engines are cooler in every metaphorical way. SBC swaps are played. I completely agree that "air cooled rear mounted hemi V8" really makes an awesome word sandwich.

@cobrajoe: This. It is severely awesome.

@morejunk4me: If your Jetta is an automatic/DSG that would explain the mileage. The Diesels still respond better to the manual transmission in real world driving. My dad has a 2001 Golf TDI and regularly sees over 50 MPG with it in regular driving. The Mk.IV TDIs carried less weight and had nearly equivalent gearing

@Slave2anMG: She clearly has healthy lungs.
