I’m with you about the willingness of the public to give the cops a pass. Cops should be held to higher standard, but most people hold them to a lower standard and give cops a break on their b.s. I’m tired of people genuflecting to law enforcement. Cops aren’t patriots or saints or heroes. They're just people and…
I’ll make a mental note that MajorBurn, some anonymous person on the internet, expects me to comment on some case that may or may not be factually dissimilar to this one. You do realize that cops can sometimes legally use deadly force against fleeing suspects, whereas civilians cannot?
I'm not being condescending. I worked in the criminal justice system for years and saw cops get away with murder, literally. So, I do understand where you are coming from.
Sometimes. Shooting at a moving vehicle in a crowd is usually a dumb move, but sometimes it is necessary. These tools shot at a fleeing car, not at someone that was trying to run them over.
I understand your frustration, but the rules are different for cops. Cops can generally use deadly force against fleeing felons, while the rest of us can’t. Also, cops don’t have a duty to retreat from deadly force if able to do safely do so, which is the law for civilians in most states. The real problem is that cops…
Nope. Good, but Schaap was excellent.
It’s Brazil.
Right. These assholes weren’t justified in firing guns at a fleeing car. Why are you making this about cops? They didn't shoot at anyone in this case?
Exactly.
Most people react to tragic circumstances without resorting to violence. One difference between humans and animals is the ability to control impulses. In fact, society requires that we control ourselves. So yes, how dare someone that has seen someone get hurt lash out like a violent piece of shit?
Yes. You can use deadly force to prevent serious injury or death. You can't rip off 20+ rounds at someone who didn't stop at a car accident.
If someone tries to run you or a cop over, then deadly force (e.g., shooting them) is justified. This shooting was committed in retaliation though, not to prevent harm.
That's funny. The point of my comment was that the OP completely ignored the wrongdoing of the shooter.
You don’t know what caused the collision, so I would withhold judgment on whom is the bigger asshole. For all we know, this collision could be purely accidental. Also, how readily identifiable each party is to law enforcement is irrelevant to determining who is the bigger cretin. The shooter is an shithead with poor…
How about the asshole(s) that fired 20+ rounds at a car? You know, the piece of shit that tried to murder someone and risked the lives of numerous other people.
It’s really better for everyone if there is a common language spoken that everyone speaks. Being multilingual is a great asset. But, not being able to communicate with the majority is a tremendous handicap. A large population that does not speak the dominant tongue is bad for the nation at large.
I thought Katy Perry caught the big one?
He takes that party bus far and wide. I imagine that it’s a combination of him actually being a cool guy and that he is a happy drunk.
Bravo! You must be a lawyer. Only lawyers can joke about child molesters and dead kids.
