The FC wasn’t really that much of a powerhouse, especially in non-turbo form.

Reminds me of when my Collegr roommate decided to try and calculate terminal velocity (with wind resistance and assuming a perfect nose down fall) of his 78 K5 Blazer and my 77 Volvo 244. Can’t remember the exact numbers anymore, but the idea was to see if they had a higher top speed in free fall (neither were that

Yes but does it have enough range for Mike Ryan to hustle it up Pikes Peak?

XD yes, but the xA and xB are the 1NZ-FE 1.5L Inline 4.

It’s still not that great for MpG with the 5-speed. Out old Auto ECHO got 38-40mpg on the highway and the xA is more like 30-33MPG. That’s not bad, though. I would gues the Auto might bet better mileage.

128hp must feel like a rocket! The xA/xB are all of 103HP! (ironically, my older Toyota ECHO had the same motor and made 108HP).

So they don’t publish towing ratings based on frontal area anymore?

Oh darn! So close, but alas, I have the little brother xA. No complaints though: it’s a great little car. (Also helps to have the Speedline runs and tinting so that it looks different from most every other xA).

I think these 3 are missing out on something. At least add a package tray on the back....

Question: Is it toe shift only, is is there room for a Honda Trail style heel/toe shifter?

Strangely, it’s easier to get parts these days. Lifan and other in China make straight up Supercub copies, so almost all parts are available as reproductions.

Heck, my 88 F-150 need extract care just to execute th 1-2 and 2-3 shifts. The synchro are just barely hanging in there.

Wait, y’all can’t work on old stuff? That’s one of the things I like. I could probably rebuild any part of my old Honda CT110; the Carb is dead simple to clean and refurb.

Let me bungee up a tent an cooler to the back and I’m in!

You just need the right tool for the job.... no foot resting on dash worries in our road trips.

75? How about 7.5HP (that 0.5 IS important)

I thought it was a bit lighter. My 2006 Scion XA weighs about 2400 lbs and also has 103HP.

To be fair the 626 and especially the Protege still driver better than a contemporary Camry/Corolla and felt faster than they actually were.

Now playing

Merlins and Allisons are great motors. They should absolutely qualify due to the post-war use in Hydroplane racing.

I always wonder why it is that most V6s sound pretty bad, yet Inline 6s usually sound pretty darn good?
