We had a automatic transmission engineer post on another one of these dumb things and specifically said shifting into neutral in an auto at a light is fine, in fact they are made to do that, that’s why you dont have to press a switch to go into neutral. I just put timing chain guides & chain in my 1999 540i m62TU, it was an adventure, the originals lasted 210,000 miles I expect the replacements will too. I still think this car drives better than almost all newer cars, cheap to drive & insure, looks good, reasonable MPG for a glorious sounding v8
