I think you nailed it with your comment. His writing is just so good, its hard to translate it into a tv show. What he needs is a premium network (i.e. HBO) to pick up the dark tower as a tv series and then take it’s time. That series is a masterpiece and that movie just shat all over it.

I thought it was a pretty strong film, not my favorite Marvel but certainly my favorite Avengers. The only thing that pulled me out of the movie was a terrible, TERRIBLE screenwipe when Thanos was getting the Soul Stone, and the voice actor at the beginning of the scene seemed like his accent was off.
