I have said it once (or twice or three times or…) but Livia is the best character the show created. Bar none. There are tons of Tony Soprano knock-offs in tv and movies, but a Livia? that is so unique and such an amazing character.

Yeah he deserves a lot of credit. Junior is a great character and one who i alternately love and hate. He really embodies so much of what Chase is going for all by himself

Barnum? but yeah I think Chase wasn't as interested in this idea in season 1 and maybe season 2, but when the show became such a huge hit and he heard how attached people were to Tony and the other mobsters I think he really made it a goal to remind people who they rooted for

Yeah the audience can see other options, but those are options for people that aren't in the life. And I think that is the fundamental misunderstanding that the show is always having to prove. They may seem like us, but their values are different, so what we think are choices, are really not.

I do see the argument that they are given choices to escape but I think that undermines the idea that this life only ends in two ways. I looked up if we were supposed to know the voice that Tony was married to in the coma, and apparently they were going for a super generic Jersey voice, not anyone in particular. But i think the younger children supports a life that is maybe more educated, and gets married later, and has kids later.
