*The crown season 6 rubs its hands with glee*

The cat was male though. Unless Ade came back as male cat? I always assume it was Christopher.

The last season has quite a large time jump which may be a little jarring. You sadly lose Arnold Rothstein as a result. But the time jump puts it right towards the very end of prohibition, so they can show a lot of the characters being beaten down by the start of the great depression. It helps the last season was

That Sawyer Juliet scene basically justfied the entire final season.

I was reflecting on that horrifying scene where the lead police captain is forced at gunpoint to perform oral sex. So I wrote the word “forced”and then struggled to think of what to call it, so simply used the word “rape”. I would go back and edit the comment but...you...know...kinja...

Reading the comments and reflecting here has really made me feel like Boardwalk Empire has the most criminally underrated ending around.

I deeply love fall out. That ending would be ballsy if done today but the fact they pulled that off in the 60's makes it even better. I love that Patrick had to basically go into hiding after because audiences were so confused and angry.

I think the backlash was people were expecting something huge and clear. Like Tony getting gunned down, or turning FBI witness or something like that. Chase went for something far more abstract and I think that initially confused people and made them feel cheated. I think what helped it age was that when you know what

Absolutely agree. The shield is one of those shows I felt a bit tired on as a whole but then absolutely nailed the final episodes.

That I absolutely agree on. I certainly never hated the show. I think I just found the constant misery to be exhausting, as well as Vic always escaping any issues, give or take a few allies dying or turning against him. The constant shaky camera stuff certainly doesn’t help, as well as the unrelenting bleakness to

Having coincentially just finished a Sopranos rewatch the night before, I’m really struck by how damn brilliant that finale was. I always forget just how well paced it is for one thing.

I’ll be honest and say I never really loved The Shield. Or even consistently liked it. This is far more a me problem than anything. But that finale was utterly sensational. Absolutely hauntingly perfect on every level. Trapping Vic in a bureaucratic hell was pretty damn genius. A way to let Vic seemingly win (however

It remains wild to me this show is ending forever in one more episode. To go out on a high note after just four seasons is something that seldom happens anymore. I'm going to deeply miss the show but enjoy getting to rewatch it all.

The irishman was a film I really enjoyed, but I would never watch that in a cinema. If I don’t actually pause a really long movie, I want at least the knowledge that I totally can. Locking myself in for something three hours or longer is a thing I have increasingly little tolerance for.

I personally enjoy the times when a movie gets booed far more. Applause is such a nice but kind of meaningless respect thing. You can applaud a genuine masterpiece or respectfully applaud a decent attempt, but it's all the same. A boo is such a wonderful expression of genuine emotion, and that always feels more

Movies like this and Pooh are really good arguments AGAINST the public domain. That makes me deeply sad, because I love the public domain. But if we need studio copyright to stop hacky Z-grade filmmakers desecrating beloved works for cheap shock value horror, then let the copyrights stand forever.

I remember when the AV club used to actually send journalists to Cannes. Really good journalists. Who did insightful, detailed write ups. Now it's gotten to the point where they just go "it got 5 minutes of applause! That means something. Or maybe it doesn't."

I'll be totally honest and tell you I have no clue what an MOD is.

I think the ship has sailed a bit on suddenly doing dvd releases for their older stuff now. I have many issues with Warner brothers discovery, but they’re surprisingly good at striking with their home media stuff a decent amount of time after the show plays.

I didn't watch it myself. It's just a damn shame whenever any show or movie gets erased like this. Particularly one as previously high profile as Y.
