I never thought of "Curse of Fenric" that way but you're right.
Hey! I enjoyed "Survival"! Admittedly, I haven't seen it since I was around fifteen years old but it was great at the time!
Not only do I agree with you - I'm surprised at how much Clara, who I could barely care about last year, is now one half of a great Companion / Doctor pairing - but you have fantastic taste. Seven and Ace will forever remain in my top five Companion / Doctor pairings.
Me last season at this point: "Man, this show kind of sucks."
Me this season at this point: "Man, this show got good!"
There wasn't enough Hardy in that episode. I hope for more in episode three.
How has it fallen by the wayside? It was referenced only two episodes back in "The Caretaker"!
I'm very happy to see that this episode was graded so highly. I've seen a few other reviews which gave it a more average grade, which baffled me because, whilst "Kill The Moon" got showered with plaudits by a lot of sites, "Mummy On The Orient Express" was - for me - the much stronger episode.
I actually really liked "Deep Breath". This is now my favourite season of Nu-Who. The only episode I've been lukewarm about is "Robot Of Sherwood". The rest have been great and I've already watched a few of them more than twice which rarely happens.
There seemed to be an underlying theme of God being unwilling or unable to help, from Thack's opening speech, through to the Archbishop refusing the request for funds, the suggestion to throw out the Bible in court before Tyhoid Mary was released, and the abandonment of Grace. Or maybe I'm reading too much into those…
The whole "moon is an egg" scenario might be fantastical but this is a show where aliens attempted to conquer Earth using satnav devices, a replica of the Titanic in space almost crashed into the planet as part of a bankruptcy plan , where obese people were actually hosts for little creatures made from body fat, robot…
The wonderful piece of music playing as both Clare and Frank run toward the same stone from different time periods was my favorite piece of Bear McCreary in the entire show.
This is my favorite part of AV Club every week. It's nice to have someone who knows the history of the show (I've read a few reviews on a lesser known website where I'm not entirely certain the reviewer has seen anything before "The 11th Hour" let alone "Rose") and can lay it all out in such an interesting way (an…
I don't really have a lot to add, as everything insightful has either been said by the above review or in these comments. I just really hate the fact that this was such a wonderful episode, and this is such a great series, and yet there are under 100 comments here. Therefore, this is merely to do my bit in increasing…
I miss Raina with her beautiful big doll eyes. Bring her back soon, AOS!
Rouge was the one with red skin, right?
Me too. I've enjoyed his work over on Sherlock but I don't think I've ever been inspired to re-watch any of his Who episodes, and "Robot Of Sherwood" is currently the weakest of this season for me.
Yes, of course. But that scene doesn't occur between Thackery and Edwards finding common ground (which made me happy), or the "Call me dad" scene (which made me sad) and so it has no baring on my comment. Thus, I once again must state that I have no idea what you're talking about.
I loved this episode so very much, that it might be my favorite of the season so far. In fact, this episode had everything that made me fall in love with Doctor Who as a small boy: an intriguing premise with a mystery to be solved, a terrible monster to be overcome, The Doctor proving himself to be smarter than…
