in 1977 I was impressed that Han’s introduction was about his personal survival. I thought it was a bold move by Lucas. (I didn’t have the vocabulary to explain this at the time. Young me deemed it “cool”)

Han becomes a ‘good guy’ - he is not ‘good’ at the start. Shooting first shows the audience he’s selfish and also smart enough to read Greedo’s intent. Han is a survivor. Which makes him coming back at the end of the movie - risking himself - to save his friends so much more satisfying.

I might skip ahead a few months at a time until I found a nice stable “future”.

I have wondered about this. I prefer the theory of alternate dimensions - that way I can keep hoping to somehow jump to a better dimension.

I am weirdly optimistic about this. Usually re-boots (or reanimations) don’t do it for me. But this looks - rather good.

it was like a murder-mystery hidden in the novel. Sort of like the ‘Coming to America’ stories, but longer and with Shadow taking part.

the Lakeside portion of the book was almost like a separate story. Moving to Lakeside might be what the series needs at this point. There are some characters I’ll miss from seasons 1-2, but I’m hoping the new characters will keep things interesting.

I wondered if they were going to affix the ex-chronicons to the front of the ship (which would have been another Serenity-esque reference). I laughed to see them as missile additions, it seemed like something the Serenity crew would have done.

I kept hoping they’d run into Bobbi and Hunter. I might even had been OK seeing another alternate Ward.

You go Ally - you’re doing a tough job and making an effort to help anyone you can. I sympathize with going this “alone” (no partner/kids) but one one hand, you have no one at home... on the other you have no one at home! Some days you just need a bit of alone time to decompress.
