I love my ‘17 WRX.

The infotainment is shit.

That is all.

NUTS! Came here to post the Mamba. I guess I’m not needed here...

Counterpoint: No, it’s not.

Also, stay out of my garage, you nosey weirdo.

...or a place for the display on the dash.

Mirrors? Where are the damned mirrors! I need mirrors!

Am I the only one who thinks this looks like a hideous ransom note of a car, with the chrome trim and all those vents making it look really cheap?

My answer to everything is WRX. I’m sticking with it. But let’s keep it respectable. If you go STI, there’s no need for that wing.

I have two carseats in the back of mine.

So, like, some sort of zombie-car apocalypse where the diesels are resurrected to avenge their untimely scrapping?

I approve, 100%.

I think this story’s a little distinct in that it seems to be temporary. They said he intended to turn it into some sort of memorial. If that was the case, I would have liked to see sort of temporary waiver while the project is completed.

Of course, if that was purely aspirational and there are no real plans in

...and despite the camouflage, it stands out.

It looks like the car had come to a dead stop while the light was still yellow. I suspect he could have easily made the light without running the red. In that case, it was reasonable for the truck to have been surprised.

The more I look at this, I don’t think the car cut over. When the video starts, the light’s still yellow. My guess is the truck expected that both he and the car would make the light.

Another possibility: the car had always been in front of him, but the truck expected both of them to make the light.

While I agree that’s a general issue, it doesn’t seem to be the case, here. As fast as the truck was going, it would have needed more than just the 12 feet the van took up.

If I had seen this maneuver in a movie, I would have rolled my eyes at how unrealistic it was.

True story. Particularly when you look at technical professions. There’s a nearby armory that employs a lot of engineers, and WRXs are all over that parking lot.

I’m willing to accept that there may be certain accidents that a human driver could avoid that an AV couldn’t, but there’s no discussion as to whether this is one of them. Is there any reason to believe the accident wouldn’t have occurred had the squishy human been driving?

...and now I have to go read the rail gun story.

No, they’re pissed because somebody is parking a bunch of cars without paying the requisite permitting and licensing fees. I’m sure the city would have been just fine with this had they gotten their piece.

Definitely a thing.

Full disclosure, I’ve got a CVT w/paddle shifters, but I absolutely force myself to slow down by using a low gear... particularly in those pesky 25 MPH zones.
