The telling stat that I found using the Google machine (via a Bloomberg News article) is that 44% of couples in the US spend less than $10k on their wedding. Kind of blows the narrative of this Jezebel article straight to hell, doesn’t it?

Kind of disappointing to have such a myopic view on expensive weddings rather than comparing it across economic prosperity lines. A wedding in NYC is obviously going to skew average numbers way higher than one in Salt Lake City, and yet there will be hundreds if not thousands more in the latter.

Perhaps this makes me a bad feminist, butI went to a bridal fair before I got married, and I enjoyed it, I got to spend time with my Mom, and there were lots of free cake samples.

Well...I got married in the parking lot of an abandoned gas station but I absolutely do acknowledge that’s not acceptable or desired by 99% of folks, hahaha. No regrets here though. Free and we were done with the whole thing within 10 minutes.
