But once again a woman is having to answer for the actions of a man.
But once again a woman is having to answer for the actions of a man.
I suppose. I still think it smacks a little bit of not recognizing that Hillary isn’t her Husband and isn’t on the hook for the shitty things he may have done.
That being said though (Thanks Jon!), replying with “they deserve to be believed at first until they’re disbelieved based on evidence” is a pretty good spur of the moment reply. She could have refused to answer or said something stupid about it not being relevant or something.
I’m reminded of the headlines when the scientists at CERN responded to a question about the possibility of causing the universe to collapse by saying that although they could not be certain (because that’s how science works) the possibility was effectively infinitesimal. Guess which part of the statement…
It’s not really her fault... it’s something that kinda gets buried in the results section for statistical voodoo reasons.
Yep. And as I just responded to someone else, you find pretty much the exact same trend w.r.t. sex of the parent and sex of the child.
Well buried in the paper is a paragraph that seems to indicate that there is a similar effect for mothers of daughters versus mothers of sons, i.e. working moms are more likely to take parental leave if it’s a daughter versus a son:
The sad thing is, you might be. And not just because men simply don’t want to take time to be with their newborns, whatever the gender. I mean, you mention being the first man in at least one of the firms you worked at to take leave. You also mention having to do some pretty extreme shuffling (working 24 hr days) and…
Yeah, I got a distinct vibe of men feeling that boys must need their father’s influence and care as much as possible, but don’t care about providing their daughters with the same. Probably a little of column A, column B, and column fuck this noise.
There’s just no winning today. I’ll try to try again tomorrow.
These effects are much larger for fathers of sons than for fathers of daughters, and almost entirely driven by fathers of first-born children and fathers in occupations with a high share of female workers.
I think you may be onto something without realizing it. Could the gap be coming from a different reason that is as equally sexist? Like men aren’t spending more time with their sons over their daughters because, “Ew, girls.” But more to the line of thinking, “What do women know about raising boys? I need to be more…
And with the boy babies you are way more likely to get your face pissed on. This is just poor decision making.
Paternity leave is so damn important for changing the cultural expectation that women do the childcare. That said, it hurts my heart to see infant daughters treated as less important. Little wonder that those girls will grow up having to fight against the feeling that they are lesser. I can only hope that these things…
I fucking give up.
female lives are still considered less significant than male lives. ugh.
this is why #sayhername is important. (yes, i’m making that connection).
our lives are less valued. they should not be less valued. this makes me all kinds of sad.
It’s almost like a violent male-centric wish-fulfilment industry that is designed for jerking off to is inherently expolitative, despite people’s best intentions and tumblr blogs!
He doesn’t have crazy eyes. He mugs for the camera because he is trying to pretend he’s not a soulless asshole.
Jesus, this is just awful. I’ve been of the, people make their own choices, let’s not assume everyone is being abused if you go with a trusted porn studio, mindset. But this guy worked with most major names, it completely calls into question their worker protections.
I think the brain damaged ones in this scenario would be Charlie Sheen and Brett Rossi. Who doesn’t disclose their HIV status? Who decides, AFTER the big reveal, to have lots of unprotected sex and make a baby?
